9th March 2021
DEFRA have now published the next stage in their prolonged process to commence the UK Ivory Act 2018 and finally activate this legislation.

This stage is a public Consultation on the Implementation of the Act and accordingly seeks a wide range of view on their proposals leading to Commencement. The Consultation period is 8 weeks (closes 4th May 2021) followed by an analysis of the responses. This will lead to the drafting of the necessary secondary legislation required by the Act in the form of Statutory Instruments to be laid before Parliament for approval. It is not known how long this part of the process will take.

We would encourage everyone who has an interest in a successful outcome to take part in this Consultation. The link below takes you to the Consultation webpage where you will find links to the Online Survey and the Consultation explanatory document. There are also contact addresses for those who wish to email or post their responses.

Please send us a message if you require any advice or guidance on completing the survey.

This site contains consultations that are run by Defra.
