Narrow Road Records Rwanda RWANDA NUMBER ONE STUDIO....IF YOU CAN TALK YOU CAN SING IF YOU CAN WALK YOU CAN DANCE In 1994, genocide destroyed the social fabric of Rwanda.

Within the span of several months, nearly 1 million people, a tenth of the population, were killed. Several millions more were displaced from their homes or fled the country. Many professionals in the music industry were also killed or became refugees. In the years to follow, Rwanda strived to rebuild its broken economy and infrastructure. When Ezra Kwizera (founder of Narrow Road) first moved bac

k to Rwanda after living in Uganda as a refugee, he saw that the Rwandan music industry was dead. There were no recording studios, people were not buying music, and musicians couldn’t make a living. In 2006, Ezra started a recording studio in Kigali (capital of Rwanda) with the goal of rebuilding the local music industry. His studio, Narrow Road Productions, became the second professional studio in Kigali after the genocide. The studio started with one computer in a single room. After two years, the company expanded to two rooms. Soon, Narrow Road was producing 70% of the nation’s music.
