She is proud to have studied under the late Dr Refaat Alareer, the beloved poet. Dr Refaat guided Eman, she says, in every aspect of her life.

Eman Abu Helal is 22. She placed sixth in Palestine, and more recently graduated university at the top of her class, with a bachelor's degree in English literature. She was a teaching assistant at Gaza's University College of Applied Sciences, happy and always ambitious, and had enrolled in a master
