There are many risks involved with eating illegal bushmeat poached from a park.

Animals such as hippos contract anthrax and die. Their carcasses are then considered easy prey by poachers who present the meat as buffalo or another species to unsuspecting consumers. Don’t be scammed.

If it’s not legal, it’s not worth the risk to you and your family.

Happy Wild dogs day.

19/08/2021

It's the best time of year--wild dog denning season!

Here the stork colony pack tends to its new litter of pups. This pack is one of many benefitting from our anti-snaring work. Last year we intensively monitored 279 wild dogs in 22 groups across 2 ecosystems, helping protect this endangered species through an array of collaborative conservation work, including anti-snaring, disease mitigation, and connectivity work.

Our anti-snaring and monitoring work are supported by IUCN Save Our Species and co-funded by EU International Partnerships as well as WWF Zambia Wereld Natuur Fonds - WWF Tusk Luambe Conservation Project Gemfields The Bushcamp Company Flatdogs Camp Robin Pope Safaris Elephant Charge Dazzle Africa Africa Hope Fund Mulberry Mongoose Tribal Textiles and many other donors.

Happy World Ranger's Day.

To those whose calling is a sacrifice for all of us, thank you - Zetted

Today is World Ranger Day! And we’re celebrating it by announcing our recently selected team for 2021 – the North Luangwa Rhino Stars! 🦏⭐️🌟The North Luangwa Conservation Programme supports over 380 scouts across the North Luangwa ecosystem – they are proud ambassadors and role models for conservation in their local communities.

We’re happy to introduce these North Luangwa role models… The North Luangwa Rhino Stars are, from left to right, Mercy Mboloma - Rhino Monitoring Officer; Gift Mwila - Fenceline Security Guard; Chakanga Mbulo - Canine Handler (and canine Gypsy!); and one of our newest recruits, Tolase Chirwa – a 2021 recruit! The team represents some of the diversity of roles we have here in our law enforcement operations at NLCP – from our Rhino Monitoring Unit, to our NLCP Canine Unit, to our rhino sanctuary Fenceline Team.

What is the ? On 18 September 2021, over 150 ranger teams from 20 African countries will unite to compete in a half marathon race carrying their 22kg (for men) or 15 kg (for women) backpack and equipment, building comradery and raising awareness of the pressures on Africa’s protected areas.

Show your support by running or walking virtually with thousands of Wildlife Rangers – including our 4 North Luangwa team members and the rest of our North Luangwa team who will be joining in to show their support! Sign-up today at www.WildlifeRangerChallenge.org – or donate to NLCP directly using the link below:
