Madd Ma### is back with his brand new video for I’M STILL HERE off his most recent release Kaleidoscope.

Ma### does this s**t flawlessly and effortlessly and always has. I remeber first hearing him around 07 and being blown away by his delivery and conviction. I told everyone around me that if I ran a label he would be my first pick.

I even tried a few times to get him everything he needed. And I specifically remember him telling me that he believes things happen for a reason and that timing is everything.

He we are damn near two decades later and my brother is indeed still here. And with this release, he dusted of his inhibitions and started recording new material again.

No matter when his last music came out it has always been way too damn long.

. And sick hop for life !

Interestingly. Ten years back I was attempting to get Dear Dangerous back together but at the time the singer wanted to write and play guitar and not worry about singing. I don’t blame him. So we bounced around the idea of having another singer come in. The only contender I considered was Rob Grounds. But back then I was too apprehensive to let people get close to me. Here we are.

Also. To be fair I was still apprehensive but because he doesn’t need me to do what I do for everyone else.

But it was actually Samson Samson that pushed me to make it official after I showed him a demo version of the next single after the little things. He was just like no do it now bro don’t wait. You two have to work together.

There's a period of time I go through with each new artist, where I bounce instrumentals off them and take note of their reactions and how the interact. What they love. What they are too polite to say they hate, and how that looks. LOL. And I catalog it mentally and create a snapshot in my mind. So it almost looks like creative love-bombing and lots of attention. But I'm creating a pattern that I can muse instantly off of when the time is right.

I also learn to analyze silence and inactivity from each artist without having to push deadlines or be overbearing like hey dude wtf is going on? I learn to be available but to give lots of space. Sometimes that blows up and is misinterpreted. But Bando can vouch. She has not missed ONE single day in 10 months, and can attest to us talking about every single artist frequently in some form or another. Their well being. Their creative future. Etc.

Last night I told Sammy something on the phone he already knows. But I said it anyways because I state the obvious and repeat myself.
But I mentioned that I'm creating an environment where all a creative has to do is be creative. Nothing else. No other technicalities or weird s**t has to be worried about. But someone has to. And that is me. So I have to figure out a lot of s**t every time I onboard a new artist. it changes the dynamic and needs to be adapted to. It's interpersonal responsibility for the sake of the artist and their art.

Unintentionally, our team is comprised of artists who never had the right home, and a lot of have bounced around trying to find the right environment. And I think that's a reflection of myself. Every one of us have been used, ignored, fu**ed over, etc. And I think I come to each artist with zero bulls**t and 100% honesty because that needs to be there. They need to know Im real. and STABLE in my resolve. im not wishy washy. I dont mince words. Im direct and you know what youre getting with me. Im also a fu**in comedic idiot so that breaks the ice.

But with each artist, my immediate thought is, "how do I help them do what they want to do? What is in the way of that? How can I leave them with the tools to excel if myself or Dirtcore goes away tomorrow?"

I even remove myself from the process if I am in the way. I used to have strict criteria but now the only thing that matters is that art is created and it looks and sounds great. It doesn't have to be my beats or my artwork so much anymore, and I have actually gotten tf out of the way when I needed to.

It's not so much sacrifice but on the outside looking in some people might see it like that.

There are always a lot of moving parts. But I'm glad I'm able to bring in the right people to help me keep the skull and bones flying high.

The new Dirtcore artist drops at midnight tonight.

All the work is getting too loud.
So the artist after him, will announce August 3rd.

The third artist will announce October 8th.

18/07/2024

It’s hard not to blow the surprise of who the next three Dirtcore artists are. I’m spending so much time behind the scenes working on s**t for them. I want to talk about it but can’t. Lol

10/07/2024

I walked alone for 24 years. Built the Dirtcore brand solo from nothing. Just ethic and integrity. Laying a foundation. Setting an example for growth and perseverance. Suffered through betrayal, exclusion, denial, homelessness, bankruptcy, sickness, death, pain. Etc.

Artists have already come and gone. But the lights are still on. The movement is still pushing forward. The team is still eating the pain and converting it to creativity and soul. We are still here for each other. We are still concerned about how to constantly be a beacon of creative hope.

We come from all walks of life. All parts of the country. Another country in my case. Just in 2 years of rocking together, each of us have eaten so much s**t in life it’s almost comedic violence. But we look each other in the eye and smile every single time we get through it.

Evolution from the ground up.
The pursuit of scrappyness.
The last American genre.
Dirtcore.

At Dirtcore we honestly don’t know if we will ever get over the wall. We just know that we’re going to do this, rain or shine. For better or for worse. Damn the consequences. Damn the benefits.

I’ve been working diligently behind the scenes to bring two new artists to Dirtcore. Lots of moving pieces but that’s a big deal for us this year.
