Stereoactive Media A project incubator for music, podcasts, and other fine art and media. Stereoactive Media launched in 2020 as a project incubator. Begun by J.

In addition to being a record label, it will offer creative and logistical consultation and, when possible, help with production services for artists and producers working on anything from music and design to podcasts, videos, and more. McVay, the goal is to not only help individual artists and producers, but also to help build and foster a community of people who make things and those who support

creative people. In that way, it’s meant as a continuation of the mission and spirit of previous projects like Fort Useless and StereoactiveNYC.

Previously, this page was for StereoactiveNYC, which began in 2003 as a listing of local NYC shows featuring a group of artists playing regularly in NYC. It then evolved into a music blog and an organizer of shows. At various points, it was heavy with band photography and videography, as well as album and show reviews. from 2016-2019, the StereoactiveNYC podcast ran on BTRtoday.

STEREOACTIVE PRESENTS... HORROR MOVIES!

Just in time for Halloween, we're proud to present discussions of a few really great horror movies as part of an ongoing project to resurface segments originally produced for an arts and culture show that ran from 2017-2021 that was, in many ways, the predecessor to our Stereoactive Presents podcast...

You can now hear our 2018 discussion of Ari Aster's HEREDITARY, our 2019 discussion of Jordan Peele's US – and also from 2019, our 20 year retrospective discussion of 1999's THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT.

We just (re)launched a podcast!

It's the new version of a culture podcast that ran weekly from 2017 to 2021. Eventually, we'll have some of the archives of the old show available here, but for now, please check out our first episode back, featuring an in-depth discussion of the upcoming Oscars by host Jeremiah McVay and guests Charles Hinshaw and Jacqueline Soller (who both appeared regularly on the old show). Available pretty much anywhere you get your podcasts -- and please subscribe for plenty more to come!

It's available on Apple, Spotify and all the usual places. And the next episode is out on Thursday, so subscribe now to get that in your feed as soon as it's out!

LIBEL's newest single is out today! "Tick" is somehow both deceptively simple and complicated. And honestly, it's one of our favorite songs of theirs ever! So, please do support Libel by purchasing the track on Bandcamp – especially because, by doing so, you'll also be supporting The Lilith Fund for Reproductive Equity, which is on the ground in Texas doing much needed work in our post-Roe world.

Starting today, we will be donating all proceeds from Stereoactive Media releases on Bandcamp to The Lilith Fund for Reproductive Equity, to help support people who need abortions in Texas. And because it happens to be , when Bandcamp waives their share, that means today is the best day to purchase music by Ilithios, Allison Langerak, The Governors, LIBEL, El Jezel, and more because more of the money you spend will be available for donation to Lilith Fund!

We had a pretty damn busy year in 2021. We helped to release some new music by Allison Langerak, Graham Brice, and LIBEL; we launched a new movie podcast with some good friends; and we celebrated the 20th anniversary of one of our favorite NYC bands, El Jezel, by reissuing their two full length albums alongside a mixtape.

Now the last few months have definitely been a bit slower... in some ways at least, but with good reason (if you know us, you hopefully get it?), however, we're looking forward to a productive and creative 2022 that should include some new projects alongside the return of some projects that have been on hold, and we hope you'll be along for the ride!
