The Disco Direction Show featured the latest disco, soul, funk & jazz tracks from the late 1970's and early 1980's and was put together every week by Colin Beattie, part time DJ, filmmaker and apprentice electrician at the time. Broadcast to the patients of Harold Wood Hospital in Romford, Essex between 8pm-9pm every Friday night. This page showcases some of the music played on the show as well as
bringing back some of the show's weekly features:
8.00pm 'Hot 12 inch' was the show's opening track and featured a new 12" single bought that week
8.15pm 'Lets Go Disco' showcased mainstream artists such as the Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart and Roxy Music who turned to making disco records to cash in on the disco explosion
8.30pm 'Disco Classic' from the past 5 years that were big in the discos and big sellers on vinyl
8.45pm 'The Disco Chart' counting down the latest top 10 tunes compiled by the NME and playing the Number 1 for that week
The title of the show was unashamedly borrowed from RCA Records' popular Disco Direction 12" series and compilation album. This page also features music from my other DJing stints at The Top House in Aveley, on board the Thames Cruise barge and other various private functions and soul gigs I did in and around London and Essex between 1980 and 1987
