Meet Patrick Wright! Patrick's hybrid piece, “A Village Full of Woollen Things,” will be featured in our upcoming issue, Vol. 15!

How Patrick describes “A Village Full of Woollen Things” in 12 words or less:
“A Welsh village where all the residents are made of wool.”

Patrick Wright has a poetry collection, Full Sight of Her (Eyewear), which was nominated for the John Pollard Prize. He has also been shortlisted for the Bridport Prize. His poems have appeared in Poetry Ireland Review, The North, Southword, Poetry Salzburg, Agenda, Wasafiri and London Magazine. He has a second collection, Exit Strategy, which will be published by Broken Sleep Books (2025).

Meet Yasmin Wooldridge! Yasmin's poems, “6:45 a.m.” and "Memori,” will be featured in our upcoming issue, Vol. 15!

How Yasmin describes “6:45 a.m.” and "Memori,” in 12 words or less:
“Grief juxtaposed between absence of life and presence in nature; fluidity of time within a memory.”

Yasmin Wooldridge is a creative bog-hag, primarily a poet, living on Treaty 4 Territory. Born in Karachi, Pakistan, she and her family lived there for 18 months, then they spent five years in Doha, Qatar. In her youth she and family travelled widely, giving her a great scope of experiences and knowledge. She inherited a curious, wandering spirit from her mother, and it is the elements of travel and grief that reflect in her work. She was a reader for the Jaipur Literature Festival Toronto 2020 and the Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild Book Bytes series 2022, and has been published in [SPACE] Magazine.

Meet Anna Veprinska! Anna's poem, “(O),” will be featured in our upcoming issue, Vol. 15!

How Anna describes “(O)” in 12 words or less:
“Lost between homelands, negotiating the distance between history and memory.”

Anna Veprinska is a poet and scholar. She is the author of the poetry collection Sew with Butterflies (Steel Bananas, 2014); the chapbooks Stone Blossom (Anstruther Press, 2022) and Spirit-clenched (Gap Riot Press, 2020); and the monograph Empathy in Contemporary Poetry after Crisis (Palgrave Macmillan, 2020), which received Honourable Mention in the Memory Studies Association First Book Award. She has a collection of poems forthcoming with the University of Calgary Press. Her poetry was shortlisted for the 2021 Austin Clarke Prize in Literary Excellence and was finalist for Best of the Net in 2022.

Meet Mahaila Smith! Mahaila's poem, “I vowed to be of service to other beings,” will be featured in our upcoming issue, Vol. 15! .blaise

Mahaila Smith (any pronouns) is a young femme writer, living and working on the traditional territory of the Algonquin Anishinabeg in Ottawa, Ontario. They are one of the co-editors for The Sprawl Mag. They like learning theory and writing speculative poetry. Their debut chapbook, Claw Machine, was published by Anstruther Press in 2020. Meet Matthew Roy! Matthew's fiction piece, “You Folks Ever Hear of Art Lieberman, Rodeo Star?” will be featured in our upcoming issue, Vol. 15!

How Matthew describes “You Folks Ever Hear of Art Lieberman, Rodeo Star?” in 12 words or less:
“One more gig to go, if he can keep it together.”

Matthew Roy (he/him) recently moved from a small town to a big city, from a rambling farmhouse to a small apartment, and from a major corporation to an up-and-comer. He’s writing more. He’s making changes. He’s neck-deep in revisions on his first novel and banging away at his second. His work has appeared or is forthcoming in Eternal Haunted Summer, Last Stanza Poetry Journal, Showcase (Object & Idea), Twenty-two Twenty-eight, and So It Goes: The Literary Journal of the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library, among others.

Meet Calum Robertson! Calum's nonfiction piece, “Dirtdays of Dirtfag,” will be featured in our upcoming issue, Vol. 15!

How Calum describes “Dirtdays of Dirtfag” in 12 words or less:
“Try n dirtfag it for a day, if ya gotta.”

Calum Robertson, sometimes known as s*f, (fae/faer/faerself) is a full-time tea drinker, part-time forest cryptid from Mohkinstsis/Calgary, Treaty 7, Alberta, currently studying communications in Kitchener-Waterloo, Dish with One Spoon Treaty, Ontario, Canada, Turtle Island. The 2022 winner of the Barbara Schneider Writing Award in Communications, faer work focuses on sound studies, nature, q***r identities and Outsider art. Fae have written nonfiction articles for publications as diverse as university campus newspapers (the Gauntlet), the Christian Courier (community newspaper) and filling Station (experimental literature). Faer poetry and prose have appeared in numerous magazines both online and in print, including Canthius, nod, deathcap, the anti-Langurous Project, Lida Literary, Bourgeon, peculiar, Red Coyote, and Tofu Ink. Fae’d like to be reincarnated as a grouse, next time around. You can find faer on Instagram as , where fae typically post cups of tea half-drunk and books mostly read.

Meet Lyz Pfister! Lyz's poem, “Nightcycling,” will be featured in our upcoming issue, Vol. 15!

How Lyz describes “Nightcycling” in 12 words or less:
“An icy road opens a door: a tire’s slip, a righted bike.”

Lyz Pfister is a writer and translator living in Berlin. She is the editor-in-chief emeritus of SAND journal, as well as the author of the blog Eat Me. Drink Me. Her original works and translations have appeared or are forthcoming in Janus Literary Review, STILL, Glean and Graft, The Bastille, Counter Service and No Man’s Land, among others. She recently published her first collection of essays, Palate.

Meet Alysha Mohamed! Alysha's poem, “Partition,” will be featured in our upcoming issue, Vol. 15!

How Alysha describes “Partition” in 12 words or less:
“Where love is political; when trauma trickles down generations.”

Alysha Mohamed is a passionate poet, playwright and journalist based in Calgary. She graduated from Queen’s University in 2022 with a BA (Honours) in English and Political Studies. Alysha made her official poetry debut with “Nanima” and “The Colonizer’s Nightmare” in Arc Poetry Magazine, and her articles have been published in outlets including CBC and Maclean’s. She loves poems that burn, heal and subvert all at once.
