01/07/2024: The Ambassador of Malta to Libya Charles Saliba paid a courtesy visit to Buraq Air. At the airline’s headquarters he was welcomed by the Director General, Captain Saad Daghman. During the aforementioned visit, the two sides discussed opportunities for cooperation in the field of maintenance, air crew training and logistics.

Ambassador Charles Saliba congratulated the company on the work being done to strengthen safety standards. He also expressed Malta’s interest in cooperating with Libya in the field of civil aviation , insisting such visits help in opening new horizons for bilateral cooperation.

30/06/24: This beautiful Dassault Falcon 2000 has been seen in Malta before. It flew in from the capital of Gabon Libreville. Earlier in the day it had left Cape Town International Airport with a stop over in the West African country before finally making it into the Mediterranean island.

L’Agusta AZ-8, un avion court et moyen courrier quadrimoteur Italien pour 26 passagers (1959).
Prévu pour remplacer les vieux Douglas DC-3 de la compagnie nationale Alitalia, il échoua dans ce rôle car la compagnie estima que cet avion qu’elle jugeait inutile, était trop lent, et trop peu polyvalent pour ses lignes européennes et intérieures.
Il ne connut pas plus d'intérêt auprès de l'Aeronautica Militare qui le jugea totalement inadapté à toute fonction militaire.
Il fut finalement envoyé à la casse en 1962 après seulement moins de 300 heures de vol.

28/06/24: Earlier in the day Boeing 767-333(BDSF) of Challenge Air Cargo was seen on a fleeting visit to the island. The wide body twinjet was originally delivered to Air Canada in March 1996.

MAviO Award winners Col Mark Said (left / TM CAD) and Captain Trevor Darmanin (VistaJet) were reunited this morning (27/06/24) after a long hiatus. It is worth recalling that Captain Darmanin performed his first ever flight in a Thruster microlight aircraft registered 9H-UMC with Col Said. This took place more than 20 years ago!. Trevor was crowned Aviator of the Year in 2018, while Mark Said was voted as Leader of the Year in 2023.

Turkish Airlines revealed that as from 2nd August, the morning rotations to Istanbul TK1369/70 will be flown by wide-body aircraft types - Airbus A350 or A330 four days a week. This operation will continue to see Turkish flying twin-aisle aircraft until 25th October 2024. Evening flights will continue to be operated by narrow body aircraft.

The ATR42-500 which came to Malta adorned in a FlyBe livery and registered G-ISLF has been parted out a while ago. It has been used over the last months by Aviation Cosmetics as a testbed. Until recently it has been noted in a bright yellow scheme, however our photographer Mario Caruana took this picture earlier in the day (26/06/24). The venerable twin turboprop is now sporting a less flashy livery and a more appealing colourscheme.

26/06/24: This Airbus A320-214 in full easyJet livery carries the unusual registration RP-C3276. The aircraft will be undergoing maintence at easyJet engineering before being inducted into the the fleet of EZY as G-EJCM. Aircraft was previously flown by Cebu Pacific in the Philippines hence the odd registration.

At short notice, KM Malta Airlines has wet-leased an Airbus A320 from Croatia’s Trade Air. The aircraft, registered 9A-BTL is seen backtracking runway 13 for Apron 8 after positioning from Cologne. Between today (25/06/24) and tomorrow, Trade Air will be flying rotations to Prague, Zurich and Berlin on behalf of KM MA.

This very plain looking ATR72-212A registered 9N-ANZ made a technical stop at Luqa on 25 June 2024 on delivery to its new owners, Buddha Air of Nepal. Buddha Air Pvt. Ltd is an airline based in Lalitpur, Nepal. It operates domestic flights within Nepal as well as international services to India, mainly Varanasi. Its main base is Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu. It was the largest domestic carrier in terms of passengers carried in 2023.
