Four Minute Mile was the 47th release from my record label Doghouse Records and the first album by Lawrence, KS band The Get Up Kids. This album, recorded at Chicago Recording Company by Bob Weston over the course of a few days, changed the course of both band and label. The Get Up Kids would go on to become one of the biggest bands of the late 90’s and early 2000’s emo resurgence that led to bands such as Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance and another Doghouse alumni, The All-American Rejects. To me Four Minute Mile was the perfect album for the time, a raw burst of energy, emotion, and melody. This soon became by far the biggest album Doghouse had ever released to this point. Happy 25th birthday to an incredible album. -DH
