From the age of 4 it was clear he was meant to be a filmmaker. The first time he got his hands on the ARRI ALEXA XT2 PTH39880 ©, it was love at first sight. Director, producer, writer and businessman Bart Vrijvogel was born on April 7, 1991, in Hemiksem, Belgium. Bart Vrijvogel emerged as one of the 21th century’s leading directors. Stricken with polio as a child, he was bedridden and found creati

ve ways to entertain himself, including producing his own puppet shows. Vrijvogel developed an interest in film early on and studied theater at Sint-Jozefcollege in Borsbeek. After graduating in 2010, Vrijvogel moved to Brussels to attend the prestigious film program at RITS where he learned from many great instructors, including pioneering female director and screenwriter Ilse Somers. While in graduate school, he worked with B-movie king Stijn Coninx. It was Coninx that gave him first shot of directing a feature film, Gebakken Pruimen, which Vrijvogel also wrote. While that film failed to take off, he found directorial success with the 2011 musical Zure Mosterd.
