If Nigeria can spend billions rehabilitating Boko Haram members who have killed people, I don't see why we cannot rehabilitate Nigerians involved in manufacturing fake and counterfeit products. Instead of arresting and throwing them in jail, why not rehabilitate them? Re-educate them. If they can produce fakes, they are close to making authentic products. The NAFDAC should teach them how to register a company. Mentor them on how to get a patent. Help them secure bank loans and government grants from the Bank of Industry. Then, they will start making their made-in-Nigeria brands of pharmaceuticals, electronics, smartphones, food and beverage, and clothing to compete with foreign goods and services. That is how to build an economy. That is how we will develop our local technology. That is how we will build our military-industrial complex!

Former Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, who is now in the United Kingdom, has acknowledged that she embezzled money from Nigeria.

Confessing her deeds during a recent press briefing in London, Madueke alleged that she had entrusted nine billion Dollars to the incumbent Governor of Zamfara State.

Recall that Madueke served as petroleum minister under the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

The Port Harcourt-born is understood to have fled the country to the United Kingdom out of fear of being arrested by Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Diezani, who is said to be battling cancer, is now appealing to the Nigerian government, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to allow her to return to the country and confess to her financial wrongdoing during her time in office.

According to SaharaReporters, Madueke, accused of embezzling billions of dollars from Nigeria, expressed her willingness to provide detailed information about the funds she allegedly misappropriated while in power.

“I am now a born-again Christian and currently grappling with the second stage of cancer, for which my United Kingdom-based physician has advised me to continue medication for the rest of my life. Yes, no one is flawless, but sometimes, God Almighty permits such occurrences.

“I’ve been accused of financial misconduct during my tenure as the petroleum minister, and it’s true. However, I would like President Bola Tinubu and Nigerians to forgive me, allow me to return home, and contribute because life is transient,” the former Minister reportedly said.

Madueke proceeded to discuss her connection with the present governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal Dare, who had served as the Executive Director of First Bank Nigeria PLC.

She reiterated that she entrusted Lawal with a staggering sum of over 9 billion dollars for safekeeping.

She said, “My husband and my entire family members, including my Nigeria lawyer based in the United Kingdom, knew my relationship with Dauda Lawal Dare, the current Zamfara State governor to whom I entrusted over 9 billion dollars for safekeeping while he was the Executive Director of the First Bank Nigeria PLC.

This is the type of nation I have always been preaching and teaching about. Look at Jide Sanwoolu, a Christian, sitting and listening as President Tinubu and other Muslims pray at the Ansar-Ud-Deen Central Mosque. Surulere.

He did not die. God will not reject him for this. He is living by the Golden Law Yeshua taught us-Love your neighbour as yourself.

It does not mean he agrees or accepts Islam. But it indicates empathy for Islam. And when there is consciousness of other religions, peaceful religious coexistence is more likely.

President Tinubu himself has attended several church services, including the Holy Ghost Convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

That is why I have consistently advocated that Christian students should COMPULSORILY take Islamic Religious Knowledge, while Muslim pupils should MANDATORILY study Christian Religious Knowledge. While atheists and adherents of African traditional religions are given an option to study at least one of the Abrahamic religions.

That way, we will build a new nation where we understand ourselves. Because it is a fallacy to think we can forget our differences. Never. We can only understand them.

A member of the Rivers State Elders and Leaders Forum, David Briggs, has said that contrary to impression that an understanding was reached at the end of the meeting, the president walked in with the controversial peace terms already drafted.
