No better way to celebrate and honor my uncle’s legacy than with one of my favorites of his quotes. After all, this truth stands timelessly: the time is ALWAYS right to do what’s right.

So, wherever you are today, don’t choose what’s easiest. Choose what’s right. We are one blood, my friends! Praise God for this new year.

Attorney Shant Karnikian, who represents hundreds of Eaton Fire victims, defended the banner as a reflection of the families' ongoing frustration. "It’s a call for accountability and answers," Karnikian said of several of the people on the float who held a sign which read "AG Bonta. Altadena Demands An Investigation." Karnikian added, "I don’t think that’s unreasonable. I don’t think that’s offensive. Silencing that request — that’s what’s offensive and outrageous." While rebuilding is taking place in Altadena, very few homes have been given the greenlight to rebuild in Palisades, where many are feeling the pressure to sell to foreigners or sleezy developers. https://www.foxla.com/news/controversial-rose-parade-banner-forcibly-removed-from-float?fbclid=IwY2xjawPFBShleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBicmlkETFsbm1yYUZBVTlWQ1hBTVY1c3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHg9EZMceZgrEDiTEZn7N8l_p1wv3UikMnxrsJIBP4YrHKLhHQ0B4L_jSSv4h_aem_zYoxKNtO3jo4n5wAvxq2aQ

A banner demanding a state investigation into the deadly Eaton Fire was taken down during the Rose Parade, sparking a debate between victims seeking answers and those who say the annual New Year's event wasn't the right time for a protest.

tweeted, "Today is the one year anniversary of the day State Park employees abandoned the Lachman Fire while it smoldered on their property after they covered up its containment line with flammable brush, sealing the fate for the Palisades to burn down 5 days later...Topanga State Park employees' texts reveal they covered up the Lachman Fire containment line with flammable brush Jan 1, the DAY OF the fire, *while it was still smoldering*. They un-contained the fire & it broke containment days later to become the Palisades Fire.
It is park policy under Gavin Newsom to 'repair' fire containment line. The State's 'Fire Management Avoidance Maps' manual instructs: "vegetation shall be spread across the surface" of handline that was constructed to contain the fire. Keep in mind: a fire can only be contained when there is a physical line around the fire, with bare mineral soil and *no* flammable brush crossing that line. By placing dead brush over the containment line, they effectively "un-contained" the Lachman Fire."
