It is park policy under Gavin Newsom to 'repair' fire containment line. The State's 'Fire Management Avoidance Maps' manual instructs: "vegetation shall be spread across the surface" of handline that was constructed to contain the fire. Keep in mind: a fire can only be contained when there is a physical line around the fire, with bare mineral soil and *no* flammable brush crossing that line. By placing dead brush over the containment line, they effectively "un-contained" the Lachman Fire."
