Todo gran movimiento cultural, antes de consolidarse, late primero en la efervescencia de lo marginal. Los inicios de la música electrónica en Barcelona es la crónica de una revolución silenciosa que transformaría para siempre el paisaje sonoro de la ciudad.

Nos situamos en un arco temporal que parte de la agitación cultural creada desde los inicios de los años 70 hasta vísperas de los Juegos Olímpicos. Fueron años de experimentación, de fructífero aislamiento, de precariedad y de una inventiva que suplía con creces la falta de recursos. Fue a partir de esta incubadora de ideas cuando Barcelona pudo mirarse en un espejo sonoro que era, a la vez, profundamente local y abiertamente global.

Lo que el lector tiene entre manos es el fruto de una labor de arqueología cultural minuciosa. Resulta extraordinaria y encomiable la ingente cantidad de información que Mauri Ibáñez ha logrado recopilar tras años de trabajo meticuloso. Su método, basado esencialmente en el testimonio directo, le ha permitido tejer un relato poliédrico. Se trata de un mapa de la memoria sonora de una urbe.

La lectura de este libro nos descubre la revelación de los cimientos sobre los que se baila, se crea y se siente la Barcelona de hoy.

Schkeuditzer Kreuz - Reinventing Axel F (Swan Grinder Remixed)

Reinventing Axel F features reinterpretations of seven of the eight original tracks from Swan Grinder by prominent international artists. Contributors include British industrial darkwave pioneers ATTRITION (with whom Hills collaborates live), Americans Distruster and Robert Inhuman representing anarko-breakcore, Siberian-Canadian experimentalist Alia of the Knife, and from Australia, the projects HOSTILE ARCHITECT (electro-industrial) and Mattblackshotgun (industrial-gabber). Schkeuditzer Kreuz himself closes the collection with his Missed Meds Mix of Poor Impulse Control.

Leiche - Roots & Rot [Holotone]

Leiche (the German word for 'co**se') is the new solo project from Marco Donnarumma, one-half of Dadub alongside Daniele Antezza, and a Berlin-based sound artist. The project retains the visceral intensity and spatial depth characteristic of his work, but with a distinct approach, as it deliberately explores the threshold between harmony and distortion, the musical and the noisy. By fusing the rawness of extreme metal, the sound design of sci-fi cinema and anime, and the technique of virtuoso instrumentalists, Leiche forges a unique, hybrid musical language.

Leiche (término alemán para 'cadáver') es el nuevo proyecto en solitario de Marco Donnarumma, mitad de Dadub junto a Daniele Antezza, artista sonoro con sede en Berlín. Este proyecto conserva la intensidad visceral y la profundidad espacial características de su obra, pero con un enfoque distinto, ya que explora deliberadamente el límite entre la armonía y la distorsión, lo musical y lo ruidoso. Fusionando la crudeza del metal extremo, el diseño de sonido del cine de ciencia ficción y el anime, y la técnica de instrumentistas virtuosos, Leiche genera un lenguaje musical híbrido y propio.

Neil Ruttenberg: Mask of Sarnath (The Nightmare Cut)

Neil Ruttenberg is a singular figure whose career operates at the intersection of mainstream cinema and the avant-garde. A disciple of Harlan Ellison, his writing has served legends such as Roger Corman and Stan Lee, with contributions to the original screenplays for Spider-Man and Ant-Man. Yet, his most personal work remains Mask of Sarnath (1980), a film he wrote and directed that year. Nominated for a Student Academy Award and handpicked by Jonathan Demme for his "Made in Texas" collection, the picture stands as a homage to classic horror, shot on 16mm.

The film's soundtrack was the work of the pioneering industrial group Throbbing Gristle.

YOUTH CODE - Yours, With Malice [Sumerian Records]

After a long hiatus due to COVID and some personal issues in their lives, they have returned with a 5-track EP called Yours, With Malice, another step in their evolution, and at the same time a new chapter in their evergoing canon. In just 17 minutes of length, they manage to redefine their sound and delivery, showcasing some new skills and tools.

Seven Century Factory brings together a unique compilation of previously unreleased material created between 1997 and 2007. Far from being simple cast-offs, these recordings constitute an excellent archive of the German producer's work, featuring demos, melodic sketches, and completed tracks that, paradoxically, never found a home on his official albums.

The track is the direct result of Masha's personal experience as a transgender woman within a hostile medical system. The oppressive atmosphere and harsh sonic texture perfectly convey the anxiety and pain generated by the "numerous refusals to prescribe synthetic hormone treatments."

El tema es el resultado directo de la experiencia personal de Masha como mujer transgénero en un sistema médico hostil. La atmósfera opresiva y la textura sonora áspera transmiten a la perfección la ansiedad y el dolor generados por las "numerosas negativas a recetar tratamientos con hormonas sintéticas."
