Very early Linas Garsys conceptual sketch for a planned Mouthpiece discography to be released on Livewire.

Prior to Mouthpiece making arrangements with the wheels were already in motion for Livewire to release the “Can’t Kill What’s Inside” complete discography. We reached out to the super-talented to help develop some cover ideas and this is as far as things progressed before plans shifted. I’ve always wanted to see how this artwork would have ultimately developed.

Early, developmental sketches for the Over the Line, “The Weight “ 7” by artist Jason Powell .

We knew we wanted to go for something that lived in the space between classic 80s horror and Powell Peralta skateboarding art and the process started with these sketches. Ultimately, the cover ended up being a not-too-subtle tribute to the legendary 1982 Creepshow segment, “The Crate.” Jason is an incredibly talented and is always a super fun and easy collaborator.

Over the Line’s 2007 “The Weight” should be streaming everywhere by next week.

Face the Enemy, “These Two Words” with Porcell @thehardcoreyogi contributing some classic, Project X-style vocals. Falling very much in the category of Livewire-adjacent, Face the Enemy was a Straight Edge hardcore band that was essentially Better Than a Thousand with Tim McMahon @doublecrossxx on vocals and (me) @alienfactor78 on bass. Here’s Tim on the origins of the band: “Better Than A Thousand had broken up, Ray Cappo had left the band, but before the band had broken up, they recorded a full album’s worth of songs for a third LP. Ray had only recorded vocals for one of the tracks and it came up that, somehow or another, that unreleased Better Than A Thousand album should get a proper release. My name was mentioned as a potential vocalist so Daniel and Ken gave me a call to see what I thought. I had known Ken since the late 80’s, so we had been friends for a long time. Our bands had been playing together for years, so we were both well aware of each other’s musical history. Ken pitched the idea of me singing on these songs but it not being released as a Better Than A Thousand album, but as a brand new band. I asked Ken to send me a CD of the songs and right off the bat, I liked what I heard. Alex, who played drums on the recording, is an excellent drummer and his drums stood out instantly.
