Sam Yoder is an Amish-born horse trainer, craftsman, actor, and entrepreneur. He is a well-traveled ranch hand and horseman, and has worked ranches all the way from the Midwest to the Pacific Islands to Texas. Sam has ample experience as an actor and is known for his role in Sundown, an original western internet series. He's fluent in Pennsylvania Dutch - a high German dialect - as it was the prim
ary language in his Amish home. Sam's also an avid team roper, martial artists, and a fan of old west literature. Sam was born April 14 , 1988 in Rexford, Montana. He was part of an Amish family and the ninth of twelve siblings. The family moved to Marlette, Michigan soon after he was born, where Sam spent most of his youth. In line with Amish traditions, he grew up without electricity or motor vehicles. From a young age, Sam was riding and driving horses. Early on, he became a proficient trainer and farrier, working on his family's ranch. Sam left home when he was eighteen and started working for a farmers market in Michigan, where he trained horses, sold vegetables, and cleaned barn stalls to make a living. When an opportunity to ranch came his way, he moved to Waimea, Hawaii. Sam became the head wrangler on the Dahana Ranch. His experience put him in charge of breaking all the young horses on the ranch, and in guiding rides for island tourists. In 2006, after two years with Dahana, Sam moved to Tolar, Texas to live close to his brother, who was pursuing his rodeo career. Sam managed the Big L Ranch after moving to Texas and continued training and shoeing horses. In 2010,Sam and his brother opened Yoder Brothers Log Furniture - a custom furniture shop, with a style inspired by their Amish upbringing. The business continues to operate and is a renowned brand in their community. In 2013, Sam played 'The Kid' Reese in "Sundown," during its premier season. He continues to reprise his role in the ongoing series.
