Neighbourhood Paper exists to encourage an open platform where anyone can have a voice and contribute to our articles, features, stories and issues covered in each issue. We believe that everyone should be able to offer their side of the story, as long as that side doesn’t harass, insult, belittle, bully or discriminate against any race, gender, sexual orientation, age, appearance or religion. To
do that, we encourage you to express your opinion and join the debate, but we will take action if we feel the conversation turns sour. Neighbourhood Paper reserves the right to delete any post or comment at any time for any reason. Here are a few house rules to keep our online community happy, healthy and hater free. Don’t be the bad egg in the basket
Having an opinion is encouraged and we would love for your voice to contribute to debate around local issues and articles. What we don’t want is for debates to become all about who said what the loudest.
2. No personal attacks - don’t be, or feed, a troll. If you have an opinion, thought or comment that is racist, sexist, agist, homophobic, xenophobic or discriminatory in any sense, we would rather you keep it to yourself.
3. Contribute, comment and critique
Tell us your perspective but accept that there are different views on every subject and none of them are necessarily right or wrong. At no stage should your belief be more important or more accurate than someone else's.
4. Don’t post personal info
Don’t flood the page with information that shouldn’t be publicly visible. This is not the place for personal details, sensitive information, spam, advertising or aggressive self promotion.
5. If it's inappropriate, don’t post it
This is not the place for graphic violence, po*******hy, inappropriate imagery, illegal, harmful or offensive activity. This is also not the place to post external links or direct our audience to any inappropriate content.
6. No material, or links to material you don’t own or have the right to share
If you aren’t allowed to post it on your page or on any online community, it definitely doesn’t have a place on our page.
7. Don’t shout, swear or aggressively contribute
We won’t tolerate aggressive comments full of expletives or comments written entirely with caps lock on.
8. No Fake News
False, misleading or deceptive information will not be tolerated
9. Don’t misrepresent our content or personally attack our authors
10. User content and comments published on this page may be used in print, on social and/or digital platforms owned by Neighbourhood
