We want to help your semester start off sweet! The School of the Arts will be set up at the front entrance of Norton Auditorium at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17, and Thursday, August 18 with a treat to kick off the fall 2022 semester. There will also be baskets set up for our students at McKinney and UNA East Campus.

This event is a fundraiser to celebrate the legacy of Jeff Eubanks and to expand awareness and enrollment for the Jeff Eubanks Culinary Management program at UNA. “The UNA Department of Music chamber ensemble-in-residence, Trio Leo (Whitney O’Neal - flute, Meghan Merciers - clarinet, and Karen Cantrell - piano), has focused on the research, presentation, and performance of the music of underrepresented composers and the music of diverse cultures/populations since 2017. Trio Leo frequently performs and lectures at local, regional, and national events, and has been selected by jury to present at the Music by Women Conference, Mid-South Flute Festival, Mid-Atlantic Flute Convention, Alabama Music Educators Association Conference, and the American Single Reed Summit. Featured composers in our concerts/presentations include Gwyneth Walker, Libby Larsen, Jennifer Higdon, Valerie Coleman, Undine Smith Moore, Dolores White, William Grant Still, and Sinae Kim.”

And for our next quest, we have CAT alum, Austin Parsons!

Austin Parsons was born in Ansbach, Germany to American parents stationed overseas. After moving around to many places throughout his life, his parents left the military and temporarily settled in Alabama to allow Austin to finish high school in one place. Although the military was “the family business”, Austin decided that military was not the life for him as an adult. Since graduating from UNA, Austin has been working in the film industry and chasing his dreams ever since.

Listen in this Wednesday to hear Austin talk about his time in the CAT program, his love for theatre, and his upcoming movie: “A New Lease on Christmas”

And for our next guest we have Hailey Drake! Hailey Drake is in her 3rd year studying Cinematic Arts and Theatre at UNA. She has stage managed A Doll's House, Part 2, Iphigenia and Other Daughters, Chatroom, Men on Boats, and is currently stage managing the Fall 2021 production of One Acts. She is very happy to have found such a great department to work in.

FUN FACTS ABOUT HAILEY!

-Hailey has seen over 700 episodes of Star Trek.

-She has stage managed 5 shows.

-Pomegranate is her favorite fruit.
