Stacy Charpentier, our Director of Training, was recently featured in an article by Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Weekly.

In the article, Stacy discusses Center for Addiction Recovery Training as well as the importance of defining the role of a peer specialist/recovery coach - specifically associated with billing. She shares that CCAR sees the role of a recovery coach as being outside “the box of billable hours."

Thank you for representing CCAR and advocating for recovery coaches, Stacy!

What the Washington Post March 5 article doesn't mention is that SAMHSA's Olsen, who is even quoted, proposed major revisions to the OTP rules in December. Too much trouble to read the NPRM? Question for Hill staff as well as mainstream media that jumps in with anecdotes and whatever "lawmakers" and "experts" say. Last week, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) released a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) that would make permanent the take-home exemptions of COVID-19, makin...

Just got Kenneth Anderson's books in the mail on the history of the addiction treatment industry in the U.S., going back to the 1800s. Mainly the 1800s and early 1900s. Fascinating. Will be reviewed in next issue.
