Feeling stressed about climate change?
According to Harvard Health,
more two-thirds of Americans suffer from some form of climate anxiety or distress!
Itâs no wonder there is now a category in psychology devoted to climate-related distress.
Thankfully people like Leslie Davenport: Therapeutic Guided Imagery are there to help. Leslie wrote a helpful book, Emotional Resiliency in the Era of Climate Change. Her commentary for this episode was comforting. We needed it.
Also, because we talked a bit about eco-therapy, we included a previous segment we did with Mariel Hemingway about healing with nature.

đOnline shopping has become an almost essential modern convenience, especially during the recent pandemic time. But, even us Green Diva have to take a hard look at how all this shipping and packaging is impacting the environment and ultimately climate change. yikes!
đżSo, is it more eco-friendly to order online? The answer isnât entirely clear â sometimes yes, sometimes no. Hmmmm. But there are some ways you can minimize your shopping impact.
đOf course, with the holidays coming (black Friday, ugh.), we like to revert to our GD holiday motto: Buy less, make more and when you HAVE to buy, try shopping local and always look for sustainably made products with the least amount of dreaded packaging.
Listen to this great episode for a lot of great information and ideas and even some humor.
CORRECTION: Green Diva Lynn mentioned that some 3 billion trees are pulverized every year just for cardboard boxes. That figure is actually related to all paper packaging and equates to 241 million tons of shipping cartons, cardboard mailers, void-fill wrappers, and other paper-based packaging, according to forest conservation group Canopy.
In the US alone, more than 33 Million peopleâincluding more than 5 million childrenâsuffered from food insecurity in 2021.
As if that wasnât disheartening enough⊠The U.S. tosses away more food than any other country in the world: Nearly 40 million tons. 80 Billion pounds. Thatâs 30-40% of the entire U.S. food supply that goes uneaten. The equivalent of 90 billion meals and 219 pounds of waste per person.
Food waste isnât good for people OR the planet!
Tune in on your fav pod app or via the link in comments to hear more staggering stats ~and ways to reduce food waste in your own home and community ~ from Green Diva Meg & Green Diva Lynn J. Broderick!

đ€·ââïžWTF is with these blueberries?! Theyâre organic & supposed to be healthy, right? Not so fast⊠Whatâs the problem, you ask. One word:: plastic đŠPlastic is found in the water we drink, the food we eat, the air we breathe, the soil below us, and even inside of our bodies. By 2030, global emissions from plastic production and pollution could produce the emissions equivalent of more than 295 (500-megawatt) coal plants. đ±By 2050, emissions could exceed the equivalent of 615 coal plants.
