Single #3 OUT NOW !

ROSES + BUTTER + FLIES

Another love song—but don’t worry, it’s not overly sappy. Niklas Mündemann delves into the state of being in love— the kind that scrambles your thoughts. The song captures this ambivalence, balancing the hopelessly positive with the uncertain. This duality is reflected in the title, which dissects the roses and butterflies of love into an image that isn’t purely pleasant, evoking the delicate beauty and unpredictability of emotions. In the chorus, though, the refrain “I want to go with you” takes center stage. It might verge on being too cheesy here, but a striking horn section and a heavy beat reminiscent of Meute lend the song a weighty, almost dark twist. Once again, they’ve nailed it! The soundscape blends electronic elements with jazz (is that swing?) and soulful vocals, evoking Hiatus Kaiyote.

‘Tomorrow A Flower’ is a modern classic - interlacing multiple genres of sound into new perspectives that complement each and leave room for the enchanting and original songs and sounds of Niklas Mündeman and .

Romano, synthesizer wizard unveils his debut solo album, ‘Güle Güle’, for Batov Records. A cinematic journey through groove, nostalgia, and diverse cultural soundscapes, the album showcases Romano’s rich musical heritage and cutting-edge creativity, building a unique sound worldwide from influences as vast as funk, disco, reggae, to Latin America, the Balkans and particularly the Middle East.

Lior Romano grew up in a Turkish-Egyptian heritage household, surrounded by music. Turkish and Egyptian, naturally, but also Greek, and the unique fusion of Greek and Arabic sounds common to the culturally diverse neighbourhood he grew up in. At the same time he gravitated towards global legends such as Stevie Wonder, Jackie Mittoo, Omar Souleyman and Aris San, in love with sounds, increasingly the sounds of synthesizers.

Third single “Hol Kahol”, inspired by Ethiopia’s blue sands, explores complex rhythms native to the Ethiopian-Eritrean border, with influence adding depth and authenticity.

return in style with a refined modern sound on “Tomorrow A Flower”, blending indie pop, soul, hip hop, jazz, Brazilian rhythms, and West African grooves.

After commencing with lead single “Loving You”, “In My Delir” follows perfectly. Featuring South African singer and KEXP fave, and shaped in collaboration with Muito guitarist . the song opens with a beguiling guitar riff that melts through the speakers like a disintegrating highlife loop. Shuffling Brazilian snares lead us into the song proper, where Petite questions the gap between his dreaming mind and loveworn heart. Destined to soundtrack the petal picking of unrequited lovers.

.band blast back into orbit on Aylar delivering a bold evolution on the psychedelic folk-meets-groove sound they established on their acclaimed debut album.

Heavily influenced by the wave of psychedelic rock fused with traditional folk music that swept across Turkey in the 60s and 70s, Şatellites’ self-titled debut album received international acclaim. The record earned support from outlets such BBC Radio 6 Music and FIP in France, and were invited to record live sets for both Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM, and KEXP in Seattle.

After two years of touring, this cohesive and reinvigorated lineup entered the studio with renewed purpose and closer musical bonds. Aylar (Turkish for “moons” or “months”) showcases more ambitious arrangements, extended compositions, intricate harmonies, and unexpected twists, reflecting the band’s commitment to innovation and their passion for the original wave of Turkish psychedelic music.

If you’re new to Şatellites, we recommend listening to “Hot Jazz”, which gives an introduction to the band’s jazz and funk chops. The hard-hitting groove is destined to energise breakdancers. The bağlama and flute riffs, steeped in minor scales and modal nuances, infuse the track with a distinctive Middle Eastern character.

If Şatellites’ self-titled debut laid the blueprint for their sound, ‘Aylar’ marks their transformation into a fully realised musical force. With this album, Şatellites step confidently out of the shadows of their Anatolian psych heroes to craft a modern yet timeless record, expanding their influences while deepening their connection to their roots.

With their new album Tomorrow A Flower, once again pushes the boundaries of what the music industry often dismissively labels as “world music.” As outdated as the term is, it barely scratches the surface of what the Berlin- and Cologne-based ensemble has pressed onto this record. In a world where algorithms and AI define the boxes we fit into, albums like Tomorrow A Flower are needed to open those boxes, shuffle everything inside, and eventually break the mold. Calling this world music is only accurate in the sense that, yes, the music comes from this world—more specifically, from tenor saxophonist and composer Niklas Mündemann.

“Loving You” is the opening track of the album, immediately immersing the listener in the captivating soundscape that defines Tomorrow A Flower. The song was created with the lyrics in mind: “Loving you is like walking on the moon.” What more can be said? This is a song about love —true, profound love. It’s heartwarming, yet tinged with melancholy and a certain epic quality. It combines lightness and gravity—perhaps much like a walk on the moon? Influences from artists like Jitwam (“Open Doors”) and Estella are evident. At the same time, the song stylistically harks back to Muito Kaballa’s last album, Like A River, and its title track. Verdict: a strong opener that leaves you wanting more.

collaborate with India born singer on their most exciting double A-side to date, merging Bollywood-style songs with their signature blend of Middle Eastern grooves.

Following the A-side “Shehzadi”, the B-side “Ranjha” (“Lover”) takes on a more Middle Eastern feel, with synth notes that undulate with longing and emotion, reminiscent of traditional instruments like the saz or baglama. The upbeat groove pairs seamlessly with Solomon’s dynamic, hope-filled vocals. Well-timed pauses add dramatic flair, while Sophia’s performance allows space for an exuberant synth solo.

Romano, synthesizer wizard and a hidden creative force behind much of Tel Aviv’s vibrant musical scene, unveils his debut solo album, ‘Güle Güle’, for Batov Records.

Title track “Güle Güle”, Turkish for goodbye, encapsulates the album’s personal meaning for Romano as he says farewell to his previous life as a globetrotting keyboardist and welcomes his new role of a keyboard-obsessessive artist. Funky synth bass lines are layered with bubbling motifs, underpinned by rhythmic Greek-like clapping and buoyant Balkan accordion, exuding an infectious energy.

‘Güle Güle’ was never planned as an album, but as they worked together across various projects, Batov Records’ DJ Kobayashi realised Lior was a “genius”, who had perfectly captured the Middle Eastern groove sound he was searching for across the tracks he was sharing. Having adopted a much more personal approach to creating music, Romano created a special world of sound that moves the body, warms the heart, and takes the mind on an incredible journey.

OUT NOW
One of the album’s standout surprises, “Midnight Sweat” reveals a darker, sultry side of . Bahar delivers a steamy late-night lullaby over a slinky disco-rock groove. Developed collaboratively, the track began as a sketch by bassist Harrosh, before Kluger added a melody and Rotem crafted lyrics in Turkish. The song tells a passionate love story, punctuated with sensual imagery.

collaborate with India born singer on their most exciting double A-side to date, merging Bollywood-style songs with their signature blend of Middle Eastern grooves.

Renowned for their instrumental releases that fuse traditional and contemporary Middle Eastern music with psychedelic rock, funk, and disco, this exciting collaboration marks another bold turn for Sababa 5, infused with new life through Sophia Solomon’s artistry.

Another release to our Middle Eastern Groove series, “Shehzadi” (“Princess”) is an Indo-disco delight. Solomon’s Hindi vocals soar effortlessly across Sababa 5’s finely balanced arrangement of hypnotic drums, pulsing electric bass, fanning electric guitar, and sparkling synths in a beguiling minor key. There’s a strong hint of 80s nostalgia with a contemporary shine, evoking a Stranger Things meets Bollywood charm.

New single from .band !
After two years of touring, this cohesive and reinvigorated lineup entered the studio with renewed purpose and closer musical bonds. ‘Aylar’ (Turkish for “moons” or “months”) showcases more ambitious arrangements, extended compositions, intricate harmonies, and unexpected twists, reflecting the band’s commitment to innovation and their passion for the original wave of Turkish psychedelic music.

“Yok Yok” reinterprets an Erkin Koray classic with a prog-tinged punk-rock flair, transitioning through four distinct sections before concluding with a rousing 9/8 Zeybek rhythm.
