First Must Burn by Low Violence, dropped yesterday as a part of the amazing Under Pressure Sundays mixtape series.

The sample is from and audio book recording of Parable of the Sower by read by Lynne Thigpen. One of my favourite Sci-Fi / Post-Apocalypse books, its violence and bleak (yet realistic) outlook on the world of failed democracy and late-stage capitalism is balanced by the essence of hope, survival and change.

Kwaai-Fi's second release of the year, a 3 track EP by entitled , drops next week Friday 05/07/2019.

Lakei, pronounced "Lucky", is a producer and rapper from Cape Town, who champions the Mother City's young hip-hop, R&B and future beats scene. In addition to his work as an emcee and alternative hip-hop beat-maker, his "Inkomazi" mixtape series released over the past few years has seen him experiment with the South African born sounds of mid-tempo Kwaito, popularized by 90s acts like Trompies and Alaska.

A regular performer around the Mother City's new club scene at venues such as Raptor Room and Wonderland, 2019 has been a bright year for the young artist, with the release of the 6-track alt-hip-hop EP "Songs About" and his contributions to Not Pop Gang's debut psychedelic-trap mixtape. Combined with the third instalment of his Inkomazi mixtape series on its way, Suburban Stimela is sure to show why Lakei is promising to be a vital voice in Cape Town's young, Gen Z clubbing and music space, and a fresh contributor to the exciting new-age Kwaito landscape.
