what a celebration for Fulla Abdul-Jabar’s WHO LOVES THE SUN yesterday eve ! Sabrina Imbler read about the lives of immortal jellyfish, tentacles & limbs; Emily Martin read from a poem that proposed experimenting with expressions of anger among recently made friends (and so much else — if the poem was a net we were caught with this); and Fulla’s reading + her incredible PowerPoint was 💯🎉

thx to Wendy’s Subway and to Brenda Iijima for some of these 📷

We’re grateful to have received an abundance of manuscripts during our recent open reading period, and are excited to share our selections for Meekling’s 2024/25 season. In the fall of 2024 we will publish OLIVIA CRONK’s Gwenda, Rodney — a poetry novel, and SYLVIA JONES’ Television Fathers, her first collection of poetry. In the spring of ’25 we will publish MC HYLAND’s The Dead and the Living and The Bridge, a series of very short essays that fall somewhere between prose poem, lyric essay, and literary criticism.

& what’s better? you can subscribe now to our forthcoming season, meaning you will receive all three books as their published, delivered to your doorstep at a significant discount.

“THIS WAS ONCE ABOUT THE SCIENTIFIC POSTER.”

So begins ’s “moving, highly original … thought experiment about the creation of selfhood and desire,” WHO LOVES THE SUN which is officially in the world today!!

Beginning as an investigation of the scientific poster, WHO LOVES THE SUN strays to explore how the emotional, personal, & expressive leak from all structures that attempt to contain the self.

Who Loves the Sun begins as a study of the scientific poster, in an attempt to understand the object and the people who make them. Eventually focus strays to explore how the emotional, personal, and expressive leak from all structures that attempt to contain the self. Composed of seven chapters, each taking a different form—from email to lecture to personal essay to mourning diary— Who Loves The Sun ultimately embraces the failure of form.
