A huge congratulations to for winning the 2024 Australian Music Prize for her debut album ‘Wirlmarni’.

The 80-year-old Walmatjarri Elder, teacher and human rights advocate’s hartfelt album captivates listeners with its blend of Aboriginal Australian blues, country, and gospel styles, infused with her personal story, says Kankawa on the album -

“I am so thrilled and proud to receive this award. Thankyou so much to AMP. Coming from the remote community of Wangkatjungka which in the past has been shown in a negative light with the focus on the issues and problems. People don’t often get to see the beautiful and positive aspects of my home and I know this award brings much pride to the people of Wangkatjungka, especially to the school and all the children who I hope to be a role model for. I dedicate this award to all my little Greats with a special mention to Tykrira Wilson who stands with me on the cover of the album. I love them all very much. They are my future ancestors.”

WARRANGU; River Story’ by is the latest album Shortlisted for the 20th Australian Music Prize!

A couple of judges commented: “Spellbinding blend of contemporary classical composition, percussion and hip-hop artistry with acute observational lyricism. Demands a deep dive.”

“I love this story telling style. i love the mix of mediums with the classical piano, other classical instruments, with beats and samples with the bird song, the spoken word. I love the through-line of instruments, story and feeling through the whole piece of work.”

‘Cartoon Darkness’ by has been shortlisted for the Australian Music Prize.

One judge commented: “This record feels like it’s gone up another gear from previous releases, even if you were just measuring intensity (the writing is both catchy and creative too). The energy throughout does not let up and it feels raw, bold and honest. I’m sweating just listening to it sitting down.”

If you haven’t listened yet, now’s the time to dive into this high-octane thrill ride!

‘Love Heart Cheat Code’ by has been shortlisted as 1 of the 9 best Aussie albums of 2024!

One judge commented “Any year which births an album spun from Hiatus Kaiyote’s talented hydra heads is a very good year, but the Naarm four-piece have flung it out there again with intricate and unexpected bursts of colour amongst a rhythm section which defies belief.”

Another said “Every time I listen to this record another facet of it is revealed to me. It’s some deliciously complex neo-soul where every melody, guitar lick, drum rhythm and bass line gel so perfectly that you can easily miss all the moving parts”.

Legendary Aussie band returned in 2024 to share 'Whatever, Whatever ' with us... Thanks , our judges have nominated it! A couple of the judges commented on the album...
"If anyone thought Grinspoon didn't still have it, they proved that they very much rock as hard as some of our finest young bands and their contemporaries. They've mastered the art of pop-rock and the heavy stuff, their songwriting as consistent and electrifying as ever. This is how you mount a comeback."
And...
"They’re not reinventing the wheel here, but sometimes you don’t need to. Music to mosh to, and a damn fine selection of rock tracks. An album to get the heart racing."
