🏔 National Geographic’s 2015 Adventurer of the year, Will Gadd, isn’t fearless—he notices the power of our planet, respects it, and explores it in extreme ways. Born in Canada, Gadd is a prominent Canadian ice climber, mixed climber, and paraglider pilot. He has held the paragliding world distance record—with a flight of 423 km—won the US and Canadian Paragliding Nationals, flew over the Grand Canyon, climbed icebergs off the coast of Labrador, won three gold medals at the X Games, and ice climbed in underground mines in Sweden. He has also become the first person to execute a one-day solo ascent of the tallest mountain in the Canadian Rockies, Mount Robson.​​​​​​​​​

When not high above the ground, Will has hosted a Discovery Channel docuseries, Fearless Planet, in which he educated viewers about Earth’s geology and the ways in which some natural structures are created.

✨ Through his chat with Face the Current, we get a glimpse into what it takes to be an extreme athlete as Gadd shares his mountain philosophy; the ways in which different environments inspire him; and why we need to think about others, vote, and act now to help redirect climate change.

Those flowers also travel far and wide! Having become the centre of global tulip trade, the Netherlands is the world’s largest commercial producer of tulips and produces 1.7 billion cut flowers per year for export.

🌿 Charcuterie is sometimes considered a 'fancy word' for cured meant, and is derived from the 15th century in France when people used every last bit of the meat and left nothing to waste. The meat was then put through a preservation process of curing and often formed into some sort of sausage or dry-aged meat.

🧑‍🍳 A charcuterie board is a fun way to curate farm to table foods, creating a tray that includes cured meats, cheeses and a variety of sweet and savory bites as well (such as fresh cucumber or miniature pickles, olives, fresh herbs, berries, fig spreads, apricot preserves, whole grain mustards, honeycomb, and more).
