Handheld, yellow lasers do not exist. That is my experience after I last year tried three that were advertised to emit some shade of yellow. None of them looked yellow to me...

In my latest video, I give it a second try. Can I fill the yellow gap between red and green with a new laser that should emit a wavelength right between the ones I have tested to be closest to yellow?

Is it true yellow? How powerful is it? What is its true wavelength? How does it work? Will my camera recording in RGB (red green blue) even film it right?

My yellow-green laser module is not even close to performing as advertised. Perhaps because the power supply is less powerful than advertised too?

In my latest video, I max test the power supply and see if it matters.
I also build a pulse-width modulator using an Arduino Uno in an attempt to adjust the laser's power output. Will I succeed?

Ferrofluid is amazing. I wish everyone could experience it in real life, but it is expensive. Perhaps there is a cheaper alternative in your local store: Magnetic paint!

In my latest video, I test the weird paint and compare it to ferrofluid and my own creation: ferripaste.
How well does magnetic paint work in comparison? What are the fluids' strengths and weaknesses? Is one of the disadvantages of paint actually a useful feature?

How do you identify an unknown, radioactive element using affordable tools? I am faced with this challenge from an unlabeled radioactive source. It is radioactive, but what makes it radioactive?

In my latest video, I use a range of tests in an attempt to identify the radioisotope. Including paper, magnets and a gamma spectrometer.
Will I figure it out or will the source remain a mystery?

I like fiber optic lamps but their brightness always disappoints me. They are too dim to really impress me. No matter if it is an old halogen or new LED type.

Time to upgrade my two fiber lamps! Make them brighter - much brighter. Will I succeed or is there a limit I overlooked?

What will happen if a strong magnet is put near a monitor? In my latest video, I will test two screen technologies: old-school CRT and flat-screen LCD.

I think I have just published the most informative video on yellow lasers online. Simply because there aren't many yellow lasers around - making videos about them even rarer...

After 25+ years of collecting lasers, I finally should have some too in the yellow gap between red and green. I will test their color and power output. Are they as specified?

Are they even yellow? This may depend on the eyes of the beholder. What do you think?

How delicate is the fluorescence of tonic water? In my latest video, I test several ways of affecting the light output of tonic water and try to explain how it all works.
Turns out that the fluorescence of tonic water is a happy, coincidental combination of the right factors for quinine!

I have always been fascinated by glow-in-the-dark items and still am. But is it possible to change the color of the light the pigments glow with at night?
For example by changing the light used to charge them - on both wavelengths and spectral bandwidth? And how about changing the temperature of the pigment?

How do you spot ultraviolet light? A cheap way is UV indication cards but is a cheap way a good way?

In my new video, I test three different indicators with six different lights. I also show how it is possible to use the cards to test if your glasses have UV protection. Including potential misreads depending on the light source used.

Is aluminium magnetic? The simple answer is no. But in my latest video, I will show how aluminium actually will react in two different ways to a magnet.
Using strong magnets and sensitive setups, even soda cans will have visible reactions. Do you know both of them?

And can you guess which element will roll off a magnet the slowest: Aluminium, copper or silver?

Time to beat my all-time laser power record! The latest and largest LaserCube should be the strongest laser I have ever tested.
I will use a laser power meter and spectrometer to hopefully verify its specs.

I will also open it up to see its inner workings and figure out the laser beam paths inside it. Quite complicated! This also means I can include instructions on how to open it up - for example to change the rechargeable battery after years of use. Perhaps the first time this has been published?

Anyway, the video was meant as something special to celebrate reaching 750,000 subscribers! Thank you so much!

Why must halogen lamps always be used with a piece of glass in front of them? Because they are hot to the touch running hotter than ordinary incandescent bulbs?

Yes, but the heat causes other, less obvious, even invisible issues that you need to be aware of.

Speakers play music by magnetism. The stronger the magnet, the louder and better it will usually play.

Makes me wonder what will happen if I take one of my super-strong neodymium magnets and put it behind a subwoofer.

Will the speaker play much louder? Does it matter what pole of the magnet faces the speaker?

How hard can it be to max power test a power supply? After finding out my laboratory power supply will deliver more volts than advertised, I have decided to test how many watts it will deliver.

The issue is that I don't know how? In my latest video, I will give it some attempts and learn from the mistakes... Will the power supply deliver the watts it is supposed to?

In my new video, I will test if something as common as a banana can be used to detect invisible UVC light. Will it react to UVC only or does UVA and heat from a lamp have an effect too? And can you get sunscreen that protects against UVC?
As a bonus, I also share a nice recipe for a barbeque banana dessert :)

This handheld device is meant to emit UVC. But does it really? The box says "Technical changes and mistakes reserved." 🤔

I will test it using a green banana and a spectrometer. I will also look into how UVC is reflected by different surfaces. Is a mirror the best UVC reflector?

Can invisible UV light make amber gemstones easier to find? Sounds a bit weird but let us test if it really works. Including testing if some inexpensive UV safety glasses will protect my eyes when using high-intensity ultraviolet flashlights.

After playing and experimenting with permanent neodymium magnets for over a decade, it is time to take the first steps into the world of electromagnets!
In this initial video, I will run some basic tests and compare it to a neodymium magnet of similar size. Will I like the electrical version of magnets?
