Wife Of Man Who Drowned Together With Female Friend At Juja Dam Speaks

The wife of a man who drowned after the car they were in plunged into a dam at Titanic area in Juja, Kiambu county has broken her silence for the first time since the tragedy happened on Monday night.

According to Margaret Kiiru, her husband Tirus Maina was a businessman, eking out a living selling engineering machinery.

On the fateful day, she claims that her husband left home for work in the morning, and later called at around 7pm on Monday, saying he was in a business meeting in Juja.

It was the last time she spoke to him.

“My husband left home for work on Monday morning, and we spoke in the evening around 7pm. He said he was in Juja for a business meeting, I asked what he would want for dinner and that was the last time we spoke,” she said.

According to Kiiru, after their last conversation, Maina's phone went off and none of her messages were replied to.

“I called and sent him messages but he was unreachable, very unusual of him because he has always been accessible,” she told Citizen.Digital on Thursday.

According to Kiiru, it was not until Tuesday at around 2pm that she was called by a friend and told to report to Kimbo police station where she learnt about her husband’s demise.

The Titanic Dam is a well-known park-and-chill spot among the locals and revellers who love some unfettered outdoor fun.

At the banks of the dam, bottles of alcohol are seen scattered all over, a clear indication that people often party in the area.

According to the locals, the two were making merry in the car that was parked a few metres from the dam and at around 9.30 pm, they heard people screaming for help.

Maina was in the company of an identified woman and his body was retrieved on Wednesday and taken to City Mortuary together with the woman’s body where the wife identified him.

“Although I do not know her, I believe the woman who was with my husband that night was a friend, he had so many friends because of the nature of his business,” she said.

POLICE in Kiambu County have retrieved the bodies of a man and a woman who drowned after their car slid into a dam in Toll Juja. Sources indicate that the couple - a man and his mpango wa kando, were having a good time when their car suddenly slid into the dam behind Titanic Hotel. Their naked bodies have been moved to General Kago mortuary.

Man Who Impersonated DP Rigathi Gachagua Says He Wanted Money For His Music

Collins Kipleting Serem, the 22 year old man who was arrested for creating a social media page using DP Rigathi Gachagua’s name has said he was looking for money to boost his music career.
The Benga musician from Sugoi disclosed that at first he created the page with an intention of gaining followers He had intended to change it back to Reng star after achieving the desired numbers.

A week before the DP launched the National Steering Committee on Drought Response and implored on salaried citizens to set aside a percentage of their salaries towards hunger relief, Collins replicated the message in his own wording on his page.

Collins posted his personal Standard Chartered Bank account number on the fake page and a pay bill number for unsuspecting Kenyans to donate.

Collins told the detectives that he would have used the money donated to grow his music. When his 14,000 followers realized his account was fake, he tried changing the name to Reng star in vain.

He has also confessed that his arrest made it possible for him to travel to Nairobi and he is already composing a song while at Central police station.

His court hearing is on Wednesday 28th December.

TRAGEDY: A 34-year old man stabbed his estranged wife several times before setting himself and their 2½-year old daughter ablaze inside their car at Nasra estate in Nairobi, Njiru area.

The wife, who managed to jump off the car, was later rushed to hospital and is in stable condition. The daughter is fighting for her life at Kenyatta National Hospital.

The man’s body has been moved to Mama Lucy Hospital Mortuary awaiting autopsy.

"Today marks exactly 40days since you grew wings. Nothing has been the same, the constant ache in my heart gets worse by the minute. BREAKING: Edward Mwachinga, who was recently appointed to the Kenya Kwanza Alliance economic task force by Deputy President William Ruto, is dead.

The lawyer is said to have collapsed on Tuesday in his Nairobi house and passed on.

According to a family member, Mwachinga was diagnosed with a heart problem a year ago and had been receiving treatment in and out of the country.

"We lost him last night at about 11 pm. He had been diagnosed with a heart problem about one year ago," said Emmanuel Washe, an uncle to Mwachinga.

Washe said the body was moved to Montezuma Funeral Home.

Mwachinga was also a member of the Pamoja African Alliance Party national elections board.

He was also a board member of Vipingo Development Limited, a subsidiary of Centum Limited.

BREAKING: United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has canceled the nomination of Karungo Thang'wah as its Senatorial candidate for Kiambu following a court order barring IEBC from clearing him.

The party has since written to IEBC replacing Karungo with Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura who will now fly UDA ticket in Kiambu. Karungo has since protested the move and condemned Kimani Wamatangi as being behind his woes.

UDA Aspirant Who Operates Chain Of Nyama Choma Joints On Eastern Bypass Arrested Over Cattle Theft

UDA MCA aspirant for Zimmerman operating a chain of Nyama Choma eateries along the Eastern Bypass, was Saturday night arrested for allegedly being involved in a cattle theft valued at over Ksh 1 million in Utawala, Nairobi.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the suspect identified as 41-year-old Peter Njenga alias 'Sonko' was arrested after forensic investigations linked him to the theft of a herd of cattle on December 16, last year in Athi River, Machakos county.

Njenga together with his accomplices are said to have then ferried the cattle in a lorry to Dagoretti slaughterhouse where it is alleged to be a booming market for livestock including stolen animals.

"Detectives from the elite Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau, together with Athi River based sleuths have since established that the cattle were driven to the Dagoretti slaughterhouse, where a ready market for livestock including stolen animals thrives," stated DCI.

"In some instances, the animals are slaughtered in the bush and ferried straight to popular meat joints in the city."

The DCI statement says Njenga's arrest followed uproar from herders based in Athi-river after livestock theft cases went on the rise.

He is said to have a series of eateries strategically located in places where customers and revelers are known to frequent.

"Maina’s arrest came after numerous complaints from Athi River based herders, following an increase in livestock disappearance over the past few months," read the statement.

"The suspect is an established butcher who operates nyama choma eateries, scattered across the city. They are located at strategic places along the eastern bypass in Utawala and Ruiru towns, where city residents and revelers frequent to enjoy mouth-watering nyama choma and other accompaniments."

Maina has since aided the detectives into further investigations leading to the arrest of one more accomplice David Gachora who is said to be the driver of the lorry used in the raid.

"After being grilled since last night, the suspect has led detectives to his accomplices in the multi-million livestock theft industry. Among the arrested is the driver of the lorry that ferried the livestock David Gachora and the lorry’s owner Samuel Mwangi," stated DCI.

"After checking out Gachora’s details in our criminal database, detectives established that he has a history of ferrying stolen livestock and has a similar case pending at the Mavoko Law courts."

Gladys Chania confident of winning Kiambu women seat

Renowned Kiambu women and youth rights activist Gladys Chania has exuded confidence of clinching the Kiambu Women Rep seat in the upcoming general election.

In an exclusive interview, Chania said that she will not be deterred by the increasing number of new aspirants declaring interest in the same seat.

“We have been working with the people of Kiambu for a long time. We have done a lot together in terms of uplifting livelihoods and dealing with various societal problems. We want to take this work to the next level,” said Chania.

“Everyone has a right to vie and it’s only the people of Kiambu who will decide who will be their next Women Rep. I have no doubt that our people will give me the opportunity to upscale the work we have been doing for the benefit of all,” added Chania.

A former teacher, Chania hang her boots just two years after establishing a career in teaching to follow her passion in community service where she has made a name as a voice of the less fortunate. She first made her debut into politics while working as the Kiambu TNA coordinator.

The Kiambu women seat has attracted at least six aspirants following the announcement by incumbent Women Rep Gathoni Wamuchomba that she will not be defending her position and will instead be going for the Githunguri Parliamentary seat.

Among those eying the Kiambu Women Representative seat include gospel singer Loise Kim, youthful Emma Wangari alias Mama Mwiko, Mary Kirika, Njeri Bakari, Kiambu Deputy Governor Joyce Ngugi and motivational speaker Ann Wamuratha.

In 2017, incumbent Gathoni Wa Muchomba made history after garnering a total of 915,992 votes to become the only MP to receive such a high number of votes in the entire country.

Motorists to be subjected to annual car inspection in draconian Proposed Law

A bill has been tabled in parliament seeking to introduce new stringent rules for cars older than 4 years since the date of manufacture.

The NTSA Motor Vehicle Inspection Unit strict inspection rules private cars will undergo mandatory inspection within arbitrary timeliness stipulating the frequency of inspection done at the agency’s wish.

Inspection fee of Ksh1,000 has been revised to motorcycle at Ksh1,300, tuk tuks and motor vehicles up to 3,000cc Ksh2,600. Above 3000cc will cost Ksh3,900.

5ton trucks Ksh2,000 and all commercial vehicles above 5 tons.Ksh4,600
For private cars, the inspection fee depends on the engine capacity. The fees to be paid will range from Ksh2,000 and Ksh3,500.

“The proposed law further gives the NTSA the power to hire private entities to conduct motor vehicle inspections on its behalf.” Says Lunna in the report for Kenyans

“An inspection under subsection…shall be conducted by the authority or persons authorised in writing by the authority,” states the Bill sponsored by Tiaty Member of Parliament William Kamket.
The new set of rules is aimed at taming the ever-rising road carnage experienced in the country.

The plans to change inspection rules gained traction in 2019 with NTSA going hard on car owners which had exceeded specific age from the time of their manufacture.

The agency was to inspect all vehicles regardless of ownership in line with Section 16 (2) of the Traffic Act.

Kenyan Woman Married to Kiminini Police Officer Cries for Justice after Assault: "No Progress"

The story of Anne Adhiambo is one of physical and emotional pain after her husband, a police officer at Kiminini Police Station confronted her for coming home at 6pm from the salon.

She is a mother of twin boys aged six months and she was left with a blind eye after the incident.

Kanini Kega hints at Moses Kuria joining Raila Odinga’s camp

Kieni MP Kanini Kega's recent Facebook post has left Kenyans speculating a possibility of Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria joining the Kieleweke political faction and ultimately supporting Raila Odinga's presidential bid.

In the post, Kieni MP claimed Kuria had sent greetings to the Azimio La Umoja proponents who are scheduled to host Odinga in Nyeri County today.

Speaking after he visited the MP, who is receiving treatment abroad after an electric blanket he bought left him with serious burns on his legs, Kanini stated that Kuria loves his community so much and continues to express concern about the political future of Kikuyu community even while on his hospital bed.

"MK loves our rùrìrì (community) so much that even in his hospital bed he's still concerned about our future," a section of Kanini's post read.

Kanini revealed that the two politicians had a lengthy chat about Kuria's situation and the tremendous improvement he has gone through since his admission.

Kuria who purchased the Ksh250,000 mat through a friend has recently been receiving courtesy calls from politicians allied to Odinga.

Recently, Nairobi women representative Esther Passaris, Mombasa governor Hassan Ali Joho visited the Chama Cha Kazi political party leader and wished him quick recovery.
