Happy art lovers! Have you ever heard of artist Leonora Carrington?
Leonora Carrington was a British-Mexican artist (1917-2011), she was one of the last living surrealist movement artists of the 30’s and founder of the women’s liberation movement in Mexico in the 70’s! She was focused on magical-realism, alchemy, post-classic Mayan mysticism and the underlying role of women in the creative process.
These are some of her scultptural works exhibited currently until April 2023.

We asked @alexandralethbridge to share with us an artist who inspires her, and she told us about @penelopeumbrico an artist who questions what photography means to us in this digital age and how it impacts our collective experience. . #repost • @der_greif Q: Tell us about your use of materials, especially in relation to digital photography A: A lot of the subjects I work with, especially those that I search for online, start out as physical material objects in the world, and, by virtue of their being sold, have become obsolete, or at least not useful – they take up room – having been replaced by newer, thinner, sleeker, faster models. I like the almost ontological shift of those objects from singular stubborn material matter, to the ever-present, unassignable, mutable, digital image (code) that represents them on the web. And I am fascinated by the management of this sort of material, how various markets dictate how we deal with it. Some of us remember those old TV repair shops that don’t exist anymore, with stacks upon stacks of CRT TVs. First they disappeared because it wasn’t cost-effective to fix the CRT, then because no one wanted a CRT they ended up on sidewalks, and now, because they are classified as hazardous, they’re nearly impossible to get rid of… - Q&A between @gcvi and #PenelopeUmbrico (@penelopeumbrico) guest editor for our upcoming #issue13 on #DerGreif Specials. Submit to the #opencall over @picter_com - In this open call Umbrico is looking for images of surplus. We asked the artist: What does #surplus mean to you, what kinds of surplus can you think of? Do you re-use surplus? - Find more details by following the link in our highlighted Story „Q&A featuring Penelope Umbrico“ . . . . . . . . . . . #photographicart #artinspirations #artistvideo #lovephotography📷❤
