Back Down Memory Lane, The Beauty Shop by Debbie Norrell

You all know I like going down memory lane. I am so old that I remember when you patronized a business or service regularly that they gave you a gift at Christmas. Is there anyone else out there that remembers when you went to a business that you used all of the time and they gave you a calendar or perhaps some type of token that had their location and phone number on it? I’m so old I remember my hair stylist giving me a bottle of lotion or a tube of hand cream at Christmas. Did You Do Black Friday? by Debbie Norrell

For years I set my alarm for 4 am or earlier to go shopping on Black Friday. It was a tradition, and if my sister and brother-in-law were in town, I dragged them along. We had so much fun. I remember the year we watched a man try to get a large flat-screen television into his trunk. He tried and tried but with no success. He probably stood in line forever to get it and then could not get it home.

The Holidays Are Near by Debbie Norrell

It seems like the holidays are always rushed by retail displays that go up right after the Fourth of July. As we get older, the months and years seem to fly by, and before you can begin to plan for one holiday, it is here and then gone in a flash. I was just planning a menu for Thanksgiving and at the same time thinking about what Christmas decorations I want to use this year.
