[Storytime] People often ask me how I became part of the YouVersion Bible app family with five bible plans and even a verse of the day video feature. I always say, "It was God!" I can't take credit even if I wanted to, but I can tell you the practical steps it took to prepare me for the opportunity.

It was a case of the right place at the right time. I met Bobby Gruenwald, the Founder of YouVersion, at a Christian entrepreneur conference organized by my dear friend Lisa Miller in 2014. Mr. Gruenwald was a panelist and Judge in the pitch competition. We spoke briefly, then took a picture (here with my mentor). Lisa died in a tragic car accident later that year. She had poured so much into me; in many ways, I looked up to her for her drive and creativity.

When I finally recovered from the shock of her death, I promised myself to make good on everything Lisa poured into me. I'd written a women's devotional titled "Captured and Crowned" in 2015 and wanted to reach a larger audience. I got the courage to email Mr. Gruenewald and ask about sharing some content on YouVersion from the devotional. He said yes, and I quickly prepared seven days of content for my first devotional. I now have five bible plans on the platform.

Fast forward to the end of 2023, I contacted the team regarding how they chose the Verse of The Day video teacher. During the first two weeks, I didn't get a reply to my email because the person was on vacation. When she returned, she apologized for the late reply and asked me to prepare a sample video to submit for consideration. Several days later, she emailed me back, told me they had a last-minute cancellation, and asked if I would be willing to replace the person. She also told me that she knew me and is a relative of my dear friend Lisa! ALL GOD!

Again, I take no credit. God has been preparing me for this platform since I was a child. This opportunity is simply the fulfillment of His purpose in my life!

SUCCESS TIPS:

** Be willing to take risks and show up in spaces ready!

** Stay ready.
** Be busy doing the work right in front of you.
** Believe that your opportunities await you; they will present themselves in God's timing.

Midlife Beauties over 50...

I spent so many years reacting to life instead of responding to the many opportunities all around me. We do this as a trauma response thinking we're safe from the critics, the naysayers and the public eye. I found out that no amount of hiding will protect you, therefore your comfort zone is just an illusion.

Can I tell you that no matter how much you avoid shining your light, there will always be a "knowing" inside that you have work to do, dreams to fulfill, greatness to carry out. It will never go away. You can't outrun your calling.

Some of you have businesses, projects, ministries and brands that no one knows about. Let's not do that in 2024!

Let's get you out of those dusty shadows and into the spotlight where you can be seen, heard, and celebrated!

Welcome! Allow me to introduce & re-introduce myself to those who may be new here or to those who have been around for awhile.

I'm Paula Lorraine, and for social purposes I dropped my last name over a year ago, but many knew me as Paula McDade.

Six amazing young adults call me Mom - 3 sons/3 daughters and 2 bonus beauties that I'm thrilled to call my Daughter-in-Loves. Our crew has expanded to 11 grands and counting!

My faith is the anchor to my life through a vibrant and intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. He uses me in the area of ministry to women who have survived trauma. My redemption story includes healing from childhood sexual abuse and other traumas that followed in my adult years.
