Issues for Your Tissues Issues for Your Tissues is the definitive discourse on reproductive justice and s*xual well-being.

While the hope is that one day we won't need a show to cover all of the news and current events affecting women's reproductive health directly, the need seems only to grow. Issues for Your Tissues is the brain child of Katie Vitale, reproductive freedom fighter, social policy ju**ie, former abortion clinic worker, reproductive equity advocate, and all around badass. Her work and volunteer experien

I'm still reeling at the loss of Kym Whitehead. She was an Austin treasure who I had the good fortune to talk with whenever she came on the show. Love to her family, blood and chosen.

We'll be talking abortion access in Texas.

S**t is going from worse to worseR in Texas. No matter what Texas Right to Life gets their boy, Greg Abbott to do, there will always be abortion in Texas (and everywhere else). Even if it costs more, takes longer to get, is illegal, is subpar care, is done by pregnant people themselves, and/or puts lives and health at risk; it will never go away.

These antichoice fools will make midwives of us all.

Pro-life advocates say the bill would do two things: cut back the time in which a pregnant woman can get abortion pills and put a state ban on mail-order pills.

03/09/2021

I'm sorry for the radio silence. It's been a tough 18 months of pandemic hiatus so far, and I see no relief in sight. My heart goes out to every pregnant person in Texas, really the whole deep south. Please take care of yourselves.

It's been a stunning week and not in the good way.

Feeling powerless?
1. Give to one of the Texas abortion funds like The Lilith Fund for Reproductive Equity, West Fund and/or Texas Equal Access Fund - TEA Fund.
2. Make calls to your elected officials. Tell them what you're thinking. Cornyn and Cruz need to hear from you as well as your federal representative. Texas elected officials are not as useful right now. https://www.house.gov/representatives
3. Listen to some smart attorneys, whether you like reading scotusblog or Rewirenewsgroup, or listening to Boom! Lawyered, there is a source of good info for you out there. Avail yourself of expert opinion to get grounded in the facts and the possible.

Let me know what's working for you either by comment here or message. I care about you all.

Nearly 24 hours after a Texas law that bans nearly all abortions in the state went into effect, the Supreme Court on Wednesday confirmed what it had previously only implied through its failure to act the night before: The court rejected a request to block enforcement of the law, which abortion provi

To say there is no basis in history or the constitution for a right to abortion is to ignore all of history in support of misogyny and oppression. Abortion has existed longer than the Constitution, the United States, the Bible, and Christianity, and it will never cease to be an option for pregnant people albeit a theoretical one for too many if these narrow-minded, science-deniers have their way.

Abortion-rights defenders promptly seized on the state's brief, noting that until now Mississippi had portrayed its appeal as far more limited.

This is crap. Perhaps when it happens in another state we can get a better outcome.

WASHINGTON (AP) — In another victory for religious groups at the Supreme Court, the justices on Thursday unanimously sided with a Catholic foster care agency that says its religious views prevent it from working with same-s*x couples.

Still grappling with taking the Mississippi abortion ban. I need, maybe we all need, to reread Handbook for a Post-Roe America. Robin Marty and Jessica Mason Pieklo, like many of us, saw the path to this point years ago.

They wouldn't review the MS law unless they thought they could decide something new. This is bleak.

I'd like to pass a big F**k-You to all the folks who said we were overreacting to Trump's election, also to the Bernie-or-bust-never-Hillary crowd whose protest votes helped usher in three Trump SCOTUS picks. It's useless and you'll blame us for your own actions anyway, but I'm not here to hold my tongue today.

We can take this time to protest state legislatures current actions to ban abortion, learn about Mifeprestone distribution orgs, donate to abortion funds, and/or read The End of Roe V. Wade: Inside the Right's Plan to Destroy Legal Abortion, Handbook for a Post-Roe America (either edition), or the Story of Jane.

Let's talk about this.

Tell us you're a misogynist jerk who wants to control others' bodies without saying that, Bryan Slaton.

This unconstitutional trash bill is a waste of state resources at best.

Rep. Bryan Slaton represents Hopkins, Hunt and Van Zandt counties.

This is unconstitutional for sure. But watch Mississippi taxpayers waste piles of money defending it.

This is layer upon layer of misdirection. It's not even ignorance; it's a series of malicious lies.

You've got horrible ban without exceptions, not that exceptions would fix this. You've got over a dozens states doing almost the same thing.

You've got the unending lie that [today's] Republican party abolished slavery when we all know full well that they actively work against black people and all people of color.

You've got a group of conservative white folks saying that controlling people's bodies and futures now is abolition when abolition would be the opposite of that.

Removing bodily autonomy and freedom from over half the country is the closest thing they can get to slavery, so they want it.

I am full of rage.

On Tuesday, Arkansas passed one of the most restrictive abortion bans in the country -- a move directly aimed at forcing (or, at the very least, encouraging) the conservative majority in the Supreme Court to reexamine Roe v. Wade.
