Reposted from On this day in 2012, DACA was announced, and hundreds of thousands of lives would be impacted. 11 years later, the program is under threat and the advances that DACA recipients have been able to make because of the program are also at risk.
In the past 11 years, DACA recipients have been able to get better jobs, increase their income, obtain health insurance and even purchase their first home.
Today we reflect on the 11 years of the DACA program and we stand in solidarity with those who did not meet the age requirements when the program was announced in 2012, and those who have not been able to receive protection under the program due to court injunctions forbidding the processing of initial DACA applications.
DACA is not, and was never intended to be, a permanent solution. We invite you all to call upon your elected officials to work towards providing a just and permanent solution to ALL undocumented immigrants.

In 2020 we did what folks thought was impossible. We won. Fairly.
Nobody bought this seat for us.
It was our community win, and I have worked tirelessly every single day to make Ward 3 residents proud and deliver real results.
I was born and raised in Santa Ana. I ran on an honest platform, but the powers that have long ruled our city and our tax dollars are upset with me for doing my job.
Please join SAUSD President Carolyn Torres, Commissioner Hernendez, and local leaders & community members in saying “NO” to this corrupt recall scheme.
The link to buy tickets is in my bio. I hope to see you there.

Reposted from @sausdarts Students at @jimthorpesausd know the joy of celebrating all the growth and experiences that this year has brought. With music educators like Sandy Brown, taking a moment to shout, move, and dance it out, it is evident that wellness through the arts is key in breaking some of the largest barriers in the classroom in finding the joy in learning. Keeping our students happy and healthy is key as we continue to grow together and learn from each other. #SantaAna
Reposted from @cityofsantaana Santa Ana Police Chief David Valentin issued a video message today to address serious misinformation that has recently been reported about police activities and to assure the public that all Santa Ana Police Department officers and staff are held to the highest standard. The misinformation was reported on a blog about the Major Enforcement Team (MET). He also discussed how the department investigates allegations of wrongdoing and its commitment to holding employees to the highest standards. The misinformation stems, in part, from unfounded claims of misconduct by off-duty MET officers at a Santa Ana restaurant in August 2020 and baseless allegations that Chief Valentin interfered with the investigation. “As police chief, I want to reassure the public that these allegations were taken seriously, and the incident was investigated thoroughly and objectively,” Chief Valentin said. “We investigate any allegations of wrongdoing and hold officers accountable to our department policies and the law.” Chief Valentin also addresses unfounded claims of a police officer gang within MET. “To further proactively address this concern and to provide transparency for our community, I have directed an independent, complete, thorough and objective assessment of MET’s operations to be completed by the Office of Independent Review,” said Chief Valentin. In the video, Chief Valentin also addresses the internal affairs investigation of a recent incident in which a police officer was filmed playing loud music to disrupt a video recording late at night in a Santa Ana neighborhood. Video Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcWN5HHlCKg Members of the public who believe they have witnessed police misconduct are encouraged to file a complaint at https://www.santa-ana.org/police-file-a-complaint/. For more information, contact the Internal Affairs Division at (714) 245-8011. #SantaAna

The song revolves around the C and am chords. The students are currently working on their chord transitions and then the strumming patterns come next. The kids are loving it and want to perform it at their 5th grade promotion. Listen to those little future rock stars sing! #santaana
