Human remains found by a landowner in Joanna on October 1, 2023 have been identified as a Joanna man, missing since 2017.

CFD was dispatched to Highway 56 South, Clinton on Sunday for an overturned vehicle. Arriving on scene, firefighters found a tanker on its side leaking jet fuel. Capt. Ryan Garrett, Lt. Will Sickles, and Firefighter Eric Caughorn jumped into action to stop and seal the leak. Other Firefighters assisting on scene were Fire Chief Jeremy Marshall, Capt. Boyd Taylor, Firefighter Engineer Scott Haney and Firefighter Nate Hall and Capt. Ashley Plaxico and Firefighter Zach Lollis from Joanna Fire Department. Just another day of teamwork from multiple departments doing what they do best!

On Monday, the Laurens County Council should reveal the name of a company that will invest $600 Million and create 400 jobs. The name is not listed in the FILOT agreement in the county council's agenda packet for final reading but should be made public Monday night. This will be too late for The Chronicle's Monday deadline for Nov 15 issue. Also to be acted on: Project Tomahawk $5.09M investment, no jobs listed; Project Thyme - Fibertex $17.6M & 38 jobs; & Project Santa - Alupress $25.988M & 64 jobs. The meeting is livestreamed on the county's website.

On October 24, deputies responded to Airport Road in reference to a shooting incident. Victims stated they heard several gunshots coming from the roadway while they were in the garage and observed a bullet hole in the window of their vehicle. After further investigation, it was determined that Randerio Taylor was a person of interest.

On October 31, Taylor was involved in a pursuit with Clinton Police Department and was taken into custody. Evidence obtained with a search warrant after this arrest led to Randerio Taylor of Laurens being charged in connection to the shooting incident on Airport Road:

-Possession of Firearm by Person Convicted of Violent Felony
-Malicious Injury to Property
-Possession of Weapon During Violent Crime
-Attempted Murder

Clinton Police Department charged Taylor with Failure to Stop for Blue Lights and Driving Under Suspension 2nd Offense.

“Once again, an individual who has no interest in living a productive life. Hopefully he will be prosecuted and imprisoned where he belongs before an innocent life is lost.” – Sheriff Don Reynolds

Laurens County Trails Association is excited to be opening another trail. While the trail is short, it will open up an under-served area of the county with a historic trail and green space.

Never heard of Rosemont Plantation, you say? It was the home of Ann Pamela Cunningham, who started the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association - which raised funds to save and restore Mount Vernon, George Washington's home.

🚨 According to the Laurens Police Department, James Boyter, 56, of Laurens, SC, is facing serious charges including unlawful use of the telephone, communicating a bomb threat, and Breach of Peace High and Aggravated Nature (BOPHAN). These charges stem from an alarming incident at a local medical facility late yesterday, which resulted in a building evacuation and a significant police response. Following a thorough investigation, authorities have confirmed that the threat was not deemed credible and the public was not in any danger.
