Shot on locations around the world, Captured by the Sea documents beach culture. Jessica Cantlin works as an invisible observer, quietly studying colors and textures, and patiently waiting for facial expressions and body language to evolve. It is the juxtaposition of these details, layered in the foreground, mid-ground, and background of her photographs that makes them transportive; encouraging curiosity provoking a creative narrative within the viewer. Captured by the Sea translates this culture and community by recording fleeting glimpses into how people experience the sea.

Annie Grossinger's Serpent Tongue was recently included in the collections at Stanford, Clarke Art Institute, and the Museum of Fine Arts Houston!

In 1954, during the height of the Cold War, the CIA carried out a coup to overthrow the first democratically-elected president in Guatemala. In the months leading up to the coup, the CIA Station Chief in Guatemala City was Grossinger’s grandfather. Dying long before Grossinger was born, his presence still loomed like a mythological creature throughout much of her childhood. Serpent Tongue explores Guatemalan history through the lenses of power, identity and memory.

Paradise Wavering is a photographic stream of consciousness that travels through a reservoir of memories. explores experiences that reflect on the passage of time and seeks the sublime in moments on the periphery of daily life. By interspersing the work she currently makes with re-photographed vintage source material from her family's archive of 8mm films and snapshots, she melds past and present, alluding to an uncertain future, where environmental angst pervades. The resulting curvilinear narrative is fractured, frayed, and stained in color, as are our memories, and photographic substrates themselves.

's Kingdom of Sand and Cement explores the challenge of progress Saudi Arabia is faced with as it rapidly transforms from a conservative and tribal desert culture to an influential world power. In less than a century Saudi Arabians went from living in mud buildings to commencing work on the world's tallest skyscraper. Examining this legacy through large-format color photographs the artist identifies the country's grand aspirations as clearly as its grand failures.

Youth culture, the live music experience, music fandom, stage divers, crowd surfers; We Were There is a book dedicated to the live music experience -- a fresh document of concerts and festivals, as seen from the space between the band and fans. Carson's lens focuses on the fans' joy and fixation, as being close to the band is akin to a near-spiritual experience. We Were There offers an alternative and contemporary angle to the typical live music book. Here, the camera is turned on the fans, allowing them to tell the story behind the music. The project also serves as a self-portrait of music fan and photographer , also a musician himself, who has been on both sides of the stage, barrier, and photo pit.

Nancy A. Scherl's Dining Alone: In the Company of Solitude is a fine art photography book that highlights the experience of being alone in public. Scherl uses peopled restaurant interiors as a metaphor to explore the complexities of the subject of solitude. The subtle nuances of her lone diners visually define their experience. This long-term project spanning three decades, culminated during the Covid-19 pandemic.

's Dammed: Birth to Death of the Colorado River was revised over at Magazine

Dammed follows the roughly 1,450-mile main stem of the Colorado River, from birth in the Rocky Mountain National Park to its end at the border of Mexico, and the 16 dams and diversions along its course. The multi-year photographic project documents the river, dams, reservoirs, and people interacting with the river along this route. The intent of this environmental photography project is to bring attention to the increasingly arid condition of the Colorado River basin, and prompt discussion and learning about not only the Colorado River watershed, but of water supply in general.

Fauxliage documents the proliferation of disguised cell phone towers in the American West. By attempting to conceal an unsightly yet essential technology of the modern world, our landscapes now contain a quirky mosaic of masquerading palms, evergreens, flagpoles, crosses, and cacti. Technology is modifying our environment with idiosyncratic results. The often-whimsical tower disguises belie the equipment’s covert ability to collect valuable personal data.

Susan Ressler's Dreaming California spans twelve years of color photographs made in Southern California and is the sequel to her 2018 monograph Executive Order: Images of 1970s Corporate America (Daylight, 2018). Once again, Ressler is looking at power relationships: the haves and have nots, political unrest, injustice and inequity; not only in the Golden State (California) but the US, and by implication, the world at large.

Our latest multimedia piece focuses on Bruce Haley's latest book, Winter. Winter gives a glimpse into the earliest traces of winter, the height of the snow season, and the melt-time within the western Great Basin region. Devoid of people and interiors, Winter provides seemingly calm and quiet photographs of the reality of winter on a modern day frontier.
