Our film, “Growing Tradition” is now available on Prime Video! Woot woot! 🎉
“Growing Tradition” tells the inspiring story of how the Tucson community united during the COVID-19 pandemic to help the Tucson Botanical Gardens create a new holiday tradition—“LightsUp! A Festival of Illumination.”
The film, directed by Alan Scott Davis, follows Adam Farrell-Wortman, the Gardens’ then newly-minted director of horticulture, as he leads the Gardens’ team as they embarked on one of their most ambitious projects: designing and constructing a holiday light show featuring nearly one million lights.
With just five months to bring this vision to life before opening night, the team faces both logistical and emotional challenges.
This heartwarming documentary highlights the resilience of the Tucson community, showcasing how collaboration, creativity, and determination helped build a magical, new tradition—one that will illuminate Tucson’s holiday season for generations to come.

Here’s a hyperlapse of Dabne’s Funhouse & Remains of the Occultists, our favorite attraction at Nightfall.
It captures the fun and fear that make the spooky season so great.
Definitely worth checking out! Make sure to bring a friend to say, “Be brave!” 👹
Underwater Filming in an Arizona River
Ever since we put our probe lens in the ocean, we’ve been looking for another opportunity to film underwater.
John suggested Cienega Creek Natural Preserve. We hadn’t been there before, but our good friends Cecil and Carol Schwalbe mentioned it to us years ago.
We waited until after it rained before venturing out there. We were in luck! Not only did we find water but we found fish, a lot of fish!
Finding them with our eyes was easy, but trying to capture them on camera took some practice and patience.
The fish didn’t like us or our camera in the water. Shoot, the first day of filming, we didn’t get any fish on camera.
With every nudge of the camera or shift in focus, the fish would hide under the roots of a nearby tree, and we’d have to wait again.
Sometimes the fish swam near the lens, we’d get excited, grab the camera and find the shot was out of focus.
Thankfully, the trees provided shade, the Arizona climate was forgiving and our tripod was steady.
After multiple attempts we found placing the camera on the slope of the hill to be affective and we got the shots we hoped for.
We’re not professional fish identifiers, but the area is a wildlife preserve that is a habitat for the Gila Topminnow, Longfin Dace, and Roundtail Chub.
We’re excited by the results and we’ll definitely try this adventure again. Maybe in the winter 😊.
This video was taken at Cienega Creek, south of Vail, Arizona. We visited for two reasons. First, to fly the drone for our friend’s promotional video. Second, to film endangered species native to Cienega Creek.
We hoped to find Chiricahua Leopard Frog, the Spikedace, and the Gila Topminnow but there wasn’t a lot of water in the creek. It wasn’t a total loss though! We just filmed the Arizona sunset and that’s always a winner!
The zoom feature on the @djiglobal Mavic 3 allowed us to create cinematic shots that resemble the range of motion of a crane boom with a 100-foot reach.
We plan to revisit the location after it, hopefully, rains this weekend. We’re excited to share an image of the fun cinema rig we’ve assembled for underwater filming.
We’re working on creating content that is quick, memorable and effective.
One way to do that is by creating content that is thematic. The theme of this video advertisement is desert wasteland.
Once we embraced that theme, the rest of the creativity flowed naturally! 🔥
Aside from the drone shot, which was recorded at the salt flats in Utah, all of the footage was gathered in AZ. Fun right?!
Point is, keep it simple, keep it thematic and follow your plan/instincts to better content.
How would you describe the vibe of this video?
Now we’re off to the next creative horizon, partner 🤠
You never know what you’re going to find in Arizona. It has a little bit of everything—the desert, the mountains, the plains—life is everywhere.
We’re still waiting for a chance to film rattlesnakes, river otters, and bald eagles. They can all be found in our state. 🦦
We tried adding Mercy into this piece over and over again, but let’s be honest, she’s as wild as a houseplant.

For the past decade, Davis de Dios Media has specialized in visual storytelling. But what exactly does that mean?
Visual storytelling is a complex blend of cameras, instinct, lighting, attentive listening, audio equipment, editing software, writing, and animation. When these physical components and mental skills harmonize, they achieve what we cherish most: stories that evoke deep emotions and visuals that leave a lasting impact on our audience.
These stories have the power to inspire change, which is why we’ve dedicated the last ten years to perfecting our craft.
We thrive on crafting enduring visuals that resonate emotionally with both ourselves and the audiences entrusted to us by our clients. We firmly believe in the transformative power of these visuals.
We are passionate about our work and take pride in collaborating with our clients to create impactful visuals like these.
If this resonates with you, we invite you to click the link in our bio and explore the successes we’ve achieved through the diverse range of visuals we’ve been privileged to create. 🎥🔥
