The incumbent lawyer (Dolan) wants $360,000 per year to keep his contract for part time work?

Some board members are ignoring a committee recommendation of a more robust firm at $150 per hour, a substantially lower rate for a better firm.

“Committee members say because Dolan’s time is split between eight other clients, it is unlikely that Clinton Township receives half of his time. That would make his true hourly rate $346. The firm’s two attorneys also handle Chesterfield Township, Chippewa Valley Schools, Grosse Pointe Woods, Macomb Township, Macomb Intermediate School District, New Baltimore, Roseville and 41B District Court.

The report says, while Clinton Township’s population has grown to about 100,000, Dolan’s firm failed to keep and stayed a small law firm. O’Reilly also has 20 other lawyers available versus two for Dolan.”

Veteran municipal attorney John Dolan’s surprise hiring of a competing lawyer sparked accusations of collusion, unethical behavior and other shenanigans.
