It's painful to see South African rapper NastyC fall so hard after signing with Def Jam, one of the companies that have produced big superstars such as Jay-Z, Kanye West, Rihanna, Snoop Dogg, Justin Bieber, Rick Ross, and many others.
Nasty C is undoubtedly one of the most talented rappers in Africa, and we all hoped that his signing to Def Jam would elevate South African hip-hop to a global level.
Unfortunately, the opposite happened. Nasty C's career took a sharp decline after the release of "Zulu Man with Some Power." He seems to be more focused on playing video games than making music now due to record label issues.
Def Jam has the resources to make even an average artist a star in less than a month, but it seems that these resources were not meant for African artists. Nasty C is not the only example. Several others signed to Def Jam's African branch, and we haven't heard from them since then.
As Africans, we need to stand up and build our industry ourselves. Don Jazzy and Olamide are excellent examples of this. Other African countries can learn from them, and we can excel

150 Years From Now
150 years from now, none of us reading this post today will be alive. 70 percent to 100 percent of everything we are fighting over right now will be totally forgotten. Underline the word, TOTALLY.
If we go back memory lane to 150 years before us, that will be 1872, none of those that carried the world on their heads then are alive today. Almost all of us reading this will find it difficult to picture anybody's face of that era.
Pause for a while and imagine how some of them betrayed their relatives and sold them as slaves for a piece of mirror. Some k*lled family members just for a piece of land or tubers of yam or cowries or for a pinch of salt. Where is the yam, cowries, mirror, or salt that they were using to brag? It may sound funny to us now, but that is how s*lly we humans are sometimes, especially when it comes to money, power or trying to be relevant.
I remember those days in my secondary school, how some people fought and did so many unimaginable things just to have their names shortlisted among those to be made school Prefects. Ordinary school Prefects o! But today nobody in that school right now remembers that I even schooled there despite my popularity then. Now, imagine what happens after 150 years!
Even when you claim the internet age will preserve your memory, take Michael Jackson as an example. Michael Jackson died in 2009, just 13 years ago. Imagine the influence Michael Jackson had all over the world when he was alive. How many young people of today remember him with awe, that is if they even know him? In 150 years to come, his name, when mentioned, will not ring any bell to a lot of people.
Let us take life easy, nobody will get out of this world alive. . . The land you are fighting and ready to kill for, somebody left that land, the person is dead, rotten, and forgotten. That will also be your fate. In 150 years to come, none of the vehicles or phones we are using today to brag will be relevant. Biko, take life easy!

What makes a great DJ.
While some argue only real DJ’s are the ones that stand behind vinyl turntables, others ignite rooms with digital media players, sync included. Putting aside the format debates, it’s what comes out the speakers that truly counts and how it’s presented.
A good DJ can for that moment in time can unite the whole room with the feeling of love and unity. It’s about reading the room, feeling the mood, watching and connecting with peoples emotions and expressions using your musical knowledge placing the right musical tool at the right time in order to direct everyone to a central peaceful spiritual place. Its that rush of adrenalin when you eventually feel you’ve made that central connection and then the journey begins focusing on observing those expressions, feelings and emotions along with the energy in the room that tells you when to take the musical journey in another direction to create an adventure/journey on the dance floor as they head into the unknown. It’s the reason many of us go clubbing, a joint therapy session, a release from the hectic noisy world outside and for that short period of time to feel at peace and unity.
The format becomes irrelevant, most people have no clue what or how the DJ is playing, but feel the powerful connection once the DJ resonates with the dance floor via music as they get to work and this applies to wedding DJ’s through to rave DJ’s.
As many find out, it’s a lot harder than it seems, a skill that takes years learn.
Overcome the Ego's Power Over You.
1. Stop being Offended:
Only the Ego is offended. The stronger the ego, the more fragile the person will be, as they tend to be more susceptible to being hit by criticism from others. Decrease the size of the target and lessen the work of the arrows.
2. Release the need to Win:
The ego loves to feed the illusion of competition. He loves to divide us into winners and losers. Usually this overwhelming need to want to compete with other people is linked to low self-esteem where the person believes they need to compete with others to be able to ''prove their worth''.
Your worth is not measured by what you have or how successful you are, but by what you carry in your heart. So don't want to compete with the other person. If someone wants to compete with you for something, let them win. Let go of any need to want to compete or control any situation. Just do your best with what you can do at the moment.
3. Let go of the need to be right:
The ego hates to admit it is wrong. It's better to die than to admit you're wrong. The ego does not like to ''lose''. For him, admitting he is wrong is the same as handing over his ''power'' to the other person.
The ego doesn't like to apologize either, as it believes it's always right in the situation. Such stubbornness and arrogance only ends up harming even more the evolution of the person himself.
Admitting you are wrong is not a sign of weakness, but of humility and maturity. Recognizing that you won't always be right is the first step to wisdom. Remember that in life we are each other's masters and apprentices.
4. Let go of the need to be superior:
True nobility isn't about being better than someone else, it's about being better than you used to be. Stay focused on your inner growth with the awareness that no one in this life is better than the other. We are all equal endowed with different capacities and potentials. The old woman prospector - not wanting to have her toes blown off- started hopping around. Many were laughing.
When his last bullet was fired, the gunslinger, still laughing, holstered his gun and turned around to go back into the saloon.
The old woman turned to her pack mule, pulled out a double-barrelled shotgun and cocked both hammers. The loud clicks carried clearly through the desert air, and the crowd immediately stopped laughing.
The gunslinger heard the sounds too, and turned around very slowly. The silence was almost deafening. The crowd watched tensely as he stared at the woman and the large gaping holes of those twin barrels.
The barrels of the shotgun never wavered in her hands as she quietly said, "Son, have you ever kissed a mule's ass?"
The gunslinger swallowed hard and said, "No m'am, but I've always wanted too"
