I was recently thinking about the movie Kafka. I searched on streaming and couldnt find it. Then i started thinking about the first time i saw it and was reminded of all the movies i was introduced to because of Bravo. Not Bravo now with the Housewives or yachts or real estate drama. But the Bravo from the early 90s without commercials. Swipe and see some of the films I probably would have never seen without Bravo.
The US vs Oppenheimer
I finally watched Oppenheimer. bought it in digital and we made the effort. Why would i say effort? Well it was a challenge for me. The movie is good. But i had issues with the pacing and the hearings and interviews kinda dragged for me. Acting and visuals were great and the story is a good one to tell but after we were done watching we both felt like Christopher Nolan was being too Christopher Nolany. I mean, his style hasnt reached m. Night shamalan territory but I started to feel inceptioned on an interstellar memento.

So im home sick and since The Price Is Right isnt on i rewatched this movie that Nancy and i saw as kids called Brainstorm. First if all, its not great. Second of all, its kinda messed up and way ahead of its time.
Basically the scientists develop a way to record your brainwaves and play them back effecting your thoughts and feelings. The government gets involved to use the tech for advanced training and eventually torture tactics.
It goes on from there and gets philosophical about death and happiness. Its unfortunate it wasn’t better produced because i probably would have been super into this movie. The director was more of a special effects guy so im not surprised the effects are the best visuals in the movie.

Happy Friday the 13th! Just watched The Black Phone with and, knowing only that Ethan Hawke was the bad guy, i was pleasantly surprised. It wasnt at all what I expected and seeing Hawke in this role was pretty cool. If you like ghost stories, kidnapping, and psychics, check it out. Not that you should like those things, but they make for scary and suspenseful movies.

Barbie or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Doll
Matthew here. and i went to an opening weekend movie for the first time in a while and chose her holy pinkness: Barbie. With Greta Gerwig at the helm and Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling leading the way, i was very intrigued even knowing little about the toy icon.
This movie is going to win awards. Its funny, witty, creative and highly entertaining. Besides all that though, it has a powerful message.

Keeping with tradition, i just finished watching Halloween Ends and (this could be the high from the Dodger’s losing talking) i‘m very satisfied. Not what i expected but a welcoming end to the series and possibly the franchise. - Matthew
