One story we haven’t publicly shared was our proposal story.
The hardest part planning a proposal is what lie to tell the girlfriend. You want to make up a good story to make sure she dresses up, but nothing too crazy so that she suspects you’re going to propose.
For me my lie was simple. I booked special VIP tickets at the most iconic observation deck overlooking the city. We would be the first people there and we would take some photos together.
The proposal was full of twists, turns, challenges. Kintania was in Australia, I was in Vietnam, and the proposal would be in America. I somehow had to book a venue without seeing it, buy a Diamond without seeing it, find out her ring size without her knowing, and convince her to travel 10,000 miles (16,000 km) for a proposal she doesn’t know about.
When the day of the proposal finally came around, we woke up at 4am and drove 3 hours to NYC. Just as I thought nothing could go wrong, Kintania began feeling sick 😩 I had no idea if i should cancel but she decided to continue on with the plans after we visited the pharmacy for medicine.
Upon arrival at the top of the observation deck I had a photographer waiting as if they were working there offering tourists photos at the observation deck. The plan worked like a charm and as the photographer set up the shot, I decided it was time for “the speech”.
So…I’m sure just like any person proposing. They have this long winded romantic speech (so did i) but of course everything blanked in the moment and I don’t even remember what came out of my mouth 🤣 so I just decided screw the speech and just get down on one knee.
..and well the video shows the final moments and some of our day after the proposal 🤩
oh and by the way, can you believe I guessed the perfect ring size just from looking at old photos from our travels? 🤣 that is just dumb luck. I couldn’t believe it.
