Per The Wall Street Journal:

"Interest-rate futures indicated last week a roughly 60% chance the Fed will lower rates by a quarter-of-a-percentage point by its May 2024 policy meeting, up from 29% at the end of October, according to CME Group data. The same data has pointed to four cuts by the end of the year."

(Seems aggressive to me unless the US economy weakens a lot more than the current consensus forecasts.)

Check out the daily chart of $SPY. The dreaded "V" bottom. This is a very rare structure in the markets. The exact opposite of patterns we typically see. Instead of taking the escalator up and the elevator down, this market has taken the escalator down and the elevator up. Screenshot below shows the details.

The challenge with this structure is two fold. The shorts did not get an easy signal to take profits at the bottom. Likewise the bulls did not get a clear signal to buy the dip. Trapping both groups on the wrong side of the market.

The result (shown in the chart below) is 5 consecutive sessions straight up, and gap up each day.
