Strike Magazine looks at this process through the medium of art and the ability of artists, despite class boundaries, to break away from the conventions of contemporary aesthetics. Strike is a bi-monthly, independently-produced, art, cultural and literary magazine from Corpus Christi, TX. Copies can be found at Cafe Calypso and Disc-Go-Round upon distribution and during our release parties. It is free to the public. Poetry, original graphic art in any medium and short fiction should be presented exactly as the author would like it to appear. Poetry submissions should consist, if possible, of 2-5 original poems. Material not submitted by the author will not be considered. Electronic submissions should appear as an attachment (PDF/WordDoc) or in the body of an email. Authors/Artists submitting material to Strike Magazine should include a brief bio consisting of 5 to 7 sentences about themselves and their work. Contributors may include a list of previous publications. Contributors receive a copy of the issue in which their work appears and a Strike Magazine sticker. Please be sure to include an address if you wish to receive a copy by mail. Strike Magazine does not maintain any rights to the material that is published. Contributors maintain the right to publish their material elsewhere and to list Strike Magazine as a publication in which the contributor has appeared. Artists/Writers submitting material to Strike Magazine should understand that accepted work will appear in the print edition and possibly online. Strike is the brainchild of Sabrina Hinojosa, Mike Linaweaver and Raul Alonzo. Sabrina is a local artist/poet in Corpus Christi via Escondido, CA. Her work has appeared in the third issue of the local left publication Volume and in Red Wedge Magazine (Chicago). Raul Alonzo is a writer and aspiring journalist from Corpus Christi. His work has appeared in Volume #'s 2 and 3 as well as Socialist Worker.org and works on the staff of the Del Mar College Foghorn. Mike Linaweaver is a political activist and writer/poet from Central Kansas. His work has appeared in issues 2 and 3 of Volume and Red Wedge Magazine. He is currently collecting his poems into a small press edition titled "Futureword" edited by Raul Alonzo.
