DESCRIPTION

Position Information

The City of Brentwood Public Works Department is looking for a dynamic leader to oversee the operation of the Wastewater Division. This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the City’s wastewater treatment plant and collection systems, the water quality laboratory, and the environmental compliance program. The ideal candidate is collaborative, easygoing, adaptable, and has a forward-thinking mentality to address changing regulations, industry trends, and best practices. Over the next three years the City will be completing an estimated $200 million in capital improvement projects involving the wastewater treatment plant and recycled water system. A candidate with experience in facility start-up and operation during complicated construction projects will help the City in executing these critical capital improvements.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Guidelines - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/Training:

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a related science discipline or an Associate of Science Degree supplemented with substantial technical courses.

Experience:

Five years of increasingly responsible wastewater operations program administration experience including three years of administrative and supervisory responsibility.

License or Certificate:

Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate driver's license.
Possession of a Grade IV Certification as a Wastewater Plant Operator from the California State Water Resources Control Board.

THE POSITION:

JOB SUMMARY

Job Duties

The primary duty of this position is to operate the steam boilers and associated equipment in the Steam Plant for the Main Campus to maintain sufficient steam pressure for campus space heating, domestic water heating, and various process uses by campus dining and science facilities. Experience in steam boiler/steam plant operation is preferred.

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is seeking applications for a Grounds Services Technician-Advanced for Facilities Management-Grounds. This is a full-time, permanent staff position.

Purpose of the Position: The Grounds Services Technician will assist in maintaining the University facilities in good working order, and maintaining an overall pleasant working, teaching, and learning environment. This position is to support the associated grounds and landscaping requirements due to the development of expanded highly maintained landscaped areas of campus. Essential Job Duties: Perform daily tasks to include: litter control, equipment operation, w**d eating, edging, blowing, mowing, seeding and fertilizing, installation, watering, irrigation operation and repair, pruning, pesticide application, riding mowers, tree removal, operation of the backhoe and skid steer, storm clean up and snow removal. Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning and regular saws, hedge and brush trimmers, and axes, as well as power lawnmowers, chain saws, snow blowers, and electric clippers. May use heavier equipment such as tractors and other vehicles. Operate machines and equipment such as trucks, tractors, and other gardening and grounds maintenance-type equipment. Perform more advanced grounds operations including but not limited to aerating, over-seeding, mowing, and fertilizing with tractors and other specialized equipment. Use irrigation methods and control systems to adjust the amount of water consumption and reduce waste.

Preferred Qualifications: 2 years of experience in progressive grounds/landscape maintenance fieldwork is preferred. An understanding of pruning/plant care techniques. Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork.
