Sometimes we have patients that do great at home, the cleaning is easy and you don't talk much! Then.... we have the patients where we rec. switching routine up, or need to make at least one change. Maybe you have the ones that ask about every product you prefer. They come back at the next recall visit and they say "Oh! I couldn't remember what you said so I didn't." WELP, maybe we don't send home a sheet for everyone, and itm ay seem "old fashioned' but we can now email them too and some patients like it! So, do you?!

🦷💬 Hey, hygienists! 🌟 When discussing mouthwash with your patients, what advice do you give? Patients often ask if they 'should' use mouthwash and what kind. We know alcohol mouthwash is known to kill both good and bad bacteria, throwing off the oral microbiome balance. It DOES freshen breath and even mask halitosis, but it can also lead to other oral issues. By asking if they use mouthwash in part of your homecare question routine, we can potentially relate oral issues back to products and see if there is a correlation. While some patients benefit from specific types, like those for dry mouth or higher fluoride, the advice isn't one-size-fits-all.

Earlier this year, the American Dental Association announced that it no longer recommends lead aprons or thyroid collars for dental imaging.
There are two main reasons for the change...
⚠️ Times have changed. X-ray beams are now more focused, so there is less concern about radiation hitting other body parts.
⚠️ The aprons and collars sometimes block dentists from getting the needed images.
Hopefully, this isn't new news, but what are your thoughts? How are you approaching this with your patients?
