Nova 104 is Album Oriented Radio. NON-PROFIT just to bring this great music back to the people...you can listen for free on our website at www.nova104.net .

Nova 104 was on air from Jan 1976 to 1981 playing some of the greatest
music in this area. Good music isn't always and doesn't have to be a "Hit". Led Zeppelin's "Stairway To Heaver"
was never a "Hit" in this country. It became popular...legendary...because of Album Stations like Nova 104. We want to bring that back to the listeners. So stay tuned...we're working on bringing it back.

Back when KBYS Lake Charles was playing vinyl and had several talented LIVE DJs...now thanks to two certain people...the engineer they hired (who had never worked in radio before) and hs wittle buddy...the station lost all of this great shows and personnel (except Rob Robin) and is now mostly a computer run station.
I was hoping the new McNeese State University President would clean house to fix this situation...but so far...it still is a waste.

On October 28, 1979 Robyn Daniels was on the air at the original Nova 104 from 9-midnight and he recorded his entire show...commercials too like Pat O'Carrolls and Scarlett O's. I just put it up online at www.nova104.net. He asks that you "please excuse my voice...I was young and obnoxious...just enjoy the music and the memories. Happy Halloween to all!!"

So finally got the record library where I can access all of the records ...still a LOT of work...two of the walls of records have not been alphabetized so that will take some time. Next I start organizing the main studio...stay tuned...

Yesterday I took my cousin to the doctor. The nurse that was there was being shadowed by a McNeese student who has been going to McNeese for 2 years...I told her that I used to be the music direcor for KBYS...she replied "What's that?" I told her it's McNeese's radio station and asked her did you not know McNeese had it's own radio station?? She replied no and that she had never heard of it.
It's been a few years since I left KBYS and I have watched it deteriorate from what we had created to what it is (or should I say isn't) now. We had creative programming...promotions for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas...promoted on the KBYS page (now all you see on their page are promotions for that School of Rock show which is pre-recorded)...the students of McNeese don't even know about the station and neither do a lot of people in Lake Charles!! This station is costing McNeese a lot of money to run not to mention the salary they are paying that buffoon to run it. They hired this dude with no radio experience and he is definitely showing that by what he has done to the station. It's why I sometimes call it KB-Why?-S or
KB-Why are you still on the air?-S...he has turned it into another computer run radio station so he didn't have to be there in person... so he could run it from his apartment. Rob Robin is the only show that gives that station any credibility. I'm still hoping that McNeese's new president will clean house and save that station. What's happened to KBYS Lake Charles is really scary...that a person with no radio experience could be put in charge by the powers that be at McNeese and be allowed to do this much damage to that radio station AND get paid for it!! Happy Halloween music lovers!!

From the Nova 104 Archives (Archives-our definition: a record collection that has music from the 1920s to the late 80's when music began to die)... In 1981 I drove to New Generation (Audio Store) in Lafayette, Louisiana to buy my first Pioneer RT-909 Reel to Reel as a Christmas Present to myself...while there they had the Country Joe McDonald MFSL pressing of Paradise With An Ocean View on sale. I still have an RT-909 Reel To Reel but not that one...it got destroyed in shipping for repairs. This LP is still special to me. We played Oh Jamaica and Save The Whales at the original Nova 104. A friend of mine is acquiring some of my Eagles Albums so for the last week or so I've been recording them into my computer...Eagles (1st LP), One Of These Nights, Desperado and Eagles Live...listening to all that talent and then finding out that Randy Meisner had passed... well Rock and Roll Heaven may be getting a lot of talent but we are losing those that made music worth listening to with very few to take their place.
