The NI Music Prize celebrates the very best of Northern Irish music. This annual award that now includes 4 categories (Best Album, Best Single, Best Live and Oh Yeah Contender Award) is shortlisted by a group of ‘nominators’ involving music journalists (print and online), radio broadcasters and shows, podcasts, bloggers, programmers, music retail, promoters, live music venues, collectives and educators, as well as key influencers from elsewhere in the arts.
Once shortlisted, best single goes to public vote via our partners the Thin Air, with Best Album being decided by panel on the night of the awards, best live will be decided by the nominators through a second round of votes.
The awards night involves live performances by one shortlisted act from each of the categories. The 2019 event will take place in the Ulster Hall on November 7th and will include The Oh Yeah Legend Award presentation to Snow Patrol who will also make a guest performance at the awards.
Previous NI Music Prize winners are The Wood Burning Savages, Joshua Burnside, Ciaran Lavery, SOAK, Robyn G Shiels and Foy Vance.
