Just in time for the weekend Iraina Mancini has just released 'Sugar High' featuring a wonderful remix from Saint Etienne Official in their inimitable, blissed-out style. Out now on all services.
If you were listening to Lauren Laverne’s show on BBC 6 Music this morning, you will have heard the first ever radio play of Iraina Mancini’s new single What You Doin’ – an exquisite expression of electric desire that hovers at a thrilling equidistant point between feverish freakbeat and hot, hypercaffeinated glam.
And today – well, right now, to be precise – Iraina’s debut album is available for pre-order. Yes, it’s a labour of love, but also a monument to Iraina’s incredible songwriting and musicianship. She makes it seem so easy, but we know it isn’t – because you won’t hear an other album like it all year.
Undo The Blue is available to pre-order on LP and CD right now. Link in Bio.
It's the last day of June again!
We have some news. The CD is coming, it really is this time.
We are very very very close to announcing the release date.
In the meantime check out the video we made this time last year....

Iraina Mancini - CANNONBALL - OUT NOW

On April 5th, Iraina Mancini releases her debut single for Needle Mythology. According to Iraina, Cannonball is “a celebration of that moment when you meet someone you really fall for and it knocks you for six. Sure it can be scary, but you’ve got to go with what your intuition is telling you.” These are words you might do well to heed if you’re listening to Iraina’s music for the first time. Cannonball is the work of someone who has learned from the toppermost of the poppermost – taking its cues from a bloodline of artists such as The Shangri-Las, Jacqueline Taieb, Francoise Hardy, Betty Boo, Saint Etienne – exponents of rebel bangers that swerved the conventions of songwriting in order to achieve optimum connection; artists who knew how to fire a rainbow of endorphins through your ears to take permanent residence in your brain. And all in less than the time it takes to grill a slice of toast. Best of all, there’s a whole album of more where that came from. An album that fizzes with joie de vivre, impeccable taste and more hooks than Long John Silver’s bedside cabinet. An album that will repeatedly remind you why you fell in love with this supposedly disposable art form in the first place. But hey, look at us here, getting ahead of ourselves. Long story short: Cannonball marks the return of FUN to pop – and not a minute too soon.

Dear all,
So far we've only heard from one half of The Finn Brothers, mainly because the other half has been deeply immersed in some exciting new projects which are close to fruition.
Yesterday morning on release day for FINN, we finally managed to get a copy to Tim (hand delivered by Jeffrey from Southbound).
And Tim stopped working for long enough for Harper to film this short piece.
We hope you like it.

We are delighted to announce that the deluxe reissue of Altitude by ALT will be the tenth release from the Needle Mythology label (out 6th May on 2LP/CD/Digital): https://orcd.co/altalti
ALT was an ad hoc trio comprising Andy White, Liam Ó Maonlaí from Hothouse Flowers and Tim Finn of Split Enz/Finn Brothers & Crowded House. The group came together when Tim Finn stayed at the Dublin apartment where Andy White and Liam Ó Maonlaí were also living at the time. Writing both together and alone, the three quickly amassed a body of songs which bore abundant testament to chemistry between them. What began as a serendipitous meeting of kindred spirits became an album when the Andy, Liam and Tim decamped to Tim’s Periscope studio in Melbourne. It was here, in July 1994, that the songs for Altitude were recorded.
Twenty-seven years after its original release, Altitude is being made available on vinyl for the first time. Miles Showell at Abbey Road has meticulously remastered the album, and both the vinyl and CD feature five bonus tracks, three of which are previously unreleased.
Initial orders of vinyl and CD through our webshop come with an exclusive art print. ‘What You’ve Done’ is now live across digital services for the first time, with an accompanying video on YouTube.

Butcher Boy's new single ‘Dear John’ is out now. One of three brand new songs that feature in the upcoming ‘You Had A Kind Face’ anthology (15th April): https://orcd.co/yhakf
“Lyrically, the song is three brief scenes, each twenty years apart, from birth, to adolescence, to adulthood. The lyric also touches upon a devotion to music, and the arrangement reflects that – listening to it now I hear Devo, Joe Jackson, REM, Electrelane, John Carpenter, nods to many records that we love. We made a video for the song and closed it with a quote from “Sargasso” by bIG fLAME, another song which means a lot to us.
On balance, and considering what we were able to say with it, “Dear John” is the song of ours I love the most.”- John Blain Hunt, Butcher Boy
Available Digitally now or as Instant Grat when you pre-order any format from the webshop.
Limited edition postcard pack with each initial order:

How lovely listening to Ed's album being played on BBC 6 Music throughout the day. Here are are few words from Pete Paphides about what it means to us all at NM
[A few words about Ed Dowie’s The Obvious I, but really it could be about anything we’ve put out on our Needle Mythology label]
When you commit to releasing an album on your label, you *really* have to love that record more than 99% of the music you receive for similar consideration. Here are the reasons.
1. No-one does this in order to get rich. There are much easier, less risky ways to do that.
2. You’re going to listen to that record A LOT over the next year or two. And you need to be fairly confident that you’ll enjoy it the 100th time as much as you did the first time.
3. There will be meetings. Lots of meetings. About design. Single releases. Budgets for radio. Budgets for promo. And you want to enjoy those meetings because your excitement about getting people to hear this music eclipses everything else. But that excitement can only come from loving the record in the first place.
4. You have to be confident that you won’t squander the faith placed in you by an artist who could have chosen other ways to put out their music.
5. That slight sense of terror you feel when the test pressings come in and you put one on the turntable and hope that it sounds as amazing in your kitchen on the good speakers as it did every other time (on this occasion, it actually sounded brighter and better).
6. You’re writing the press bio and the sales notes (that’s the copy that goes out to record shops so they know what to say about the record on their websites). It would be way too depressing to write a bio about a record that you don’t absolutely adore. I *loved* interviewing Ed and writing the bio for The Obvious I. I wrote it the way I would write a magazine feature on one of my favourite artists. Because basically that’s what it was.
7. You have to find people to work on the record who love i
