It's a cold but sunny Thursday out there which can only mean one thing...it's Pop Filter time again🥳.

Our newest episode will be broadcast live this evening at 7pm on Near FM 🙌

This week, Will McDermott and Lorraine Harton discuss the controversial and disturbing Netflix biopic that everyone's wondering the same thing about, "Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez story", as well as formerly cancelled Ellen De Generes's new Netflix comedy special, "Ellen De Generes: For your approval".

Can Lorraine get over her PTSD from hate watching the also Ryan Murphy made OJ Simpson biopic long enough to give "Monsters" a fair trial watch? And will Ellen finally make Will laugh out loud? You'll have to listen to find out😉

You can listen to the episode live on Near FM tonight at 7pm on 90.3FM or here: https://nearfm.ie/livestream/

Or listen immediately afterwards on Spotify here: https://open.spotify.com/show/5Cd4E3rD4bFPu0f6O8cJ9B...

It's a wet Thursday out there but we have something that might cheer you up...it's Pop Filter time again🥳.

Our newest episode will be broadcast live this evening at 7pm on Near FM 🙌

This week, Will McDermott and Lorraine Harton discuss the HBO documentary that's making us all want to rewatch The Sopranos (for the, eh, 5th time for some of us), "Wise Guy: David Chase and The Sopranos", and the American horror remake of the fantastic Danish horror "Speak No Evil".

Will the English language "Speak No Evil" hold up to the mighty but very dark heights of the original? Have a listen and see why don't ya...

Myself and Maggie Ellis are flinging a new album out into the void in two weeks. It's called Big School and we are The Last Laugh.
Dream On is our first release from it and it's track number six on the album.
It will be on Spotify and Apple Music tomorrow but we're releasing it a day early on Bandcamp to take advantage of all you diehard fans with a pound/euro burning a hole in your pockets.

Maggie and I fully expect to retire on the proceeds by midweek.

We hope you like the song.

Happy Thursday everyone! Only one more day left in the working week, which can only mean one thing...it's Pop Filter time again🙌🥳.

Our newest episode will be broadcast live this evening at 7pm on Near FM.

This week, Lorraine Harton and Will McDermott discuss the domestic violence movie that's bizarrely being promoted like a romantic comedy, "It Ends With Us", and the newest venture from M. Night Shyamalan (not his real name we find out) and comeback King Josh Hartnett, "Trap".

So grab your friends, wear your florals, and listen to us pull both of these odd odd movies apart 💐🧐

Here's a preview of the first minute of our (The Last Laugh) next release. It's called Dream On and it's out next Monday. There's an amazing bit coming up in the song just after I faded it out but you'll hear the whole thing next week. We (me and Maggie Ellis) hope you like it.

My band with Maggie Ellis, The Last Laugh, has a single coming out in 2 weeks. You young people won't remember singles but they were big when I were a lad.
It's from our upcoming album, Big School, which we're going to say will be out 2 weeks after the single. We're fierce proud of it.
The link below should have all kinds of pre-order bits and pieces if you're so inclined to support us.

It's Thursday again, which can only mean one thing...it's Pop Filter time 🙌🥳. Our new episode will be broadcast live this evening at 7pm on Near FM 😀

This week, Will McDermott and Lorraine Harton discuss the newest of the face hugging creature franchise, "Alien: Romulus", and the Irish film that showcases the Gaeilge language in a whole new and very cheeky light, "Kneecap".

Here's Will and Lorraine having an animated discussion on whether Kneecap is an absolute blast of a film, or a "Wish.com version of Trainspotting". See who you agree with and let us know!

New episode of Pop Filter out now on Spotify 🙌

This week finds Lorraine Harton, Will McDermott and three non-descript second-row band members pretending to harmonise, singing a soppy ballad to a group of kids in a school gym before being bundled into a van for two more shows that day.

Our heroes review new Netflix documentary, "Dirty Pop", and find out the sordid story behind the backs of The Backstreet Boys and NSYNC. Who will turn out to be the Harry Styles of Pop Filter? 👀

Next up, Will goes to the parallel bars while Lorraine takes a run towards the vault and hopes her case of The Twisties is behind her as they give their thoughts on Netflix documentary mini-series, "Simone Biles Rising".

Here they are post recording and vault jumping, just about to run out of the studio, having almost forgotten to take a photo. Professional as always!

It's Thursday again! Which can only mean one thing...the most recent episode of Pop Filter will be played tonight on Near FM from 7pm-8pm 🥳

This week, on our "murder special", Lorraine Harton and Will McDermott discuss the bizarre Nicholas Cage horror film that seemingly everyone is raving about, "Longlegs", as well as the new Amazon Prime documentary series which tell the story of Ireland's most horrific crime, "The Murderous Scissor Sisters".

And we had a lovely visitor this week, Will's son Ben! Here's the three musketeers having a jamming session after recording the ep - at least one of them is a very talented musician you know 😌

You can listen to the show live on Near FM on 90.3FM, or catch up on Spotify from 8pm.

Happy listening!

It's new episode time.
Will can barely contain his excitement as his old pal, Lorraine Harton, returns from her explorations in The East, where she was in search of exotic spices and the finest silks.

This week our reunited duo take on a firm favourite as Disney+ returns The Bear to our screens. 8 episodes of delicious food getting chucked in the bin just because the jus made from squirrel's tears was overdone by 2 seconds.

The dessert course this week is the new Amazon Prime documentary, I Am Celine Dion, in which the singer of the title tackles ageing and the poorly-named Stiff Person Syndrome to remind us all what a talented performer she was. Results will vary based on your tolerance to some quite strong cheese.

Will holds down the fort for another show as Lorraine is currently en route to Tokyo from Kyoto. Or maybe the other way around. There aren't many places where you can from one city to another where both cities are anagrams of each other.

Stepping into the breach this week is their old pal, Dave Curran. Dave is a friend and colleague from Coláiste Dhúlaigh like Nicky from the last show.

Dave was the host of a podcast called Inspireland where Pop Filter got it's start by putting out episodes under the Inspireland banner.

Inspireland is still available and is an excellent podcast with a wide range of guests including filmmaker Mark Cousins, documentarian Kirby Ferguson, author Jon Ronson and many more.

https://podcasts.apple.com/ie/podcast/inspireland-podcast/id840302259

This week, Dave and Will look at season 1 of Reservation Dogs and find a magical group of Native American teenagers and their struggle to escape the Oklahoma reservation they live in to go to California.

After that, talk turns to the decade-long decline in the relationship between rappers, Drake and Kendrick Lamarr. All of which has been documented in a string of diss tracks that have gone from arguing about who's the best rapper to much more serious and personal allegations.

Can two white Irishmen figure this one out? Of course!

No new episode of Pop Filter this week. Lorraine is away in Japan.

Fear not as Will has drafted in a superb stand-in, in the shape of Mr. Nicky Coghlan for next weeks show (It's going to be Fortnightly for the summer).

Will and Nicky will be discussing BBC anthology twist show, Inside No. 9, as it wraps up it's ninth, and final, season. Following that, it's a trip, back to the 90's where Will and Nicky reminisce over Discmans (Discmen?) and MiniDisc players and Air's debut album Moon Safari, which turns 25 this year.

That'll be next week on NearFM.ie or wherever you get yizzer podcasts from.

Review us on your platform of choice as it will really help the show out.

Happy Thursday all! Once again, it's Pop Filter time 🥳

Are you a Hathahater or a Fan Hathaway? Either way, our trusted heroes, Will McDermott and Lorraine Harton, have a show for you!

Anne Hathaway is back with a pair of films of varying quality (within each film as well as when compared to each other).

First up it's Hitchcockian grief-drama, "Mother's Instinct". Can Lorraine or Will deduce just who is losing their mind between Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway? They've got 90 minutes to figure it out.

Next up is cradle-robbing, music drama, "The Idea Of You", wherein Anne Hathaway has to pretend she doesn't look amazing for a woman of any age, let alone, her current age. It's the acting challenge of a lifetime!

The episode will be broadcast on Near FM at 7pm, and will be available to listen to immediately afterwards on Spotify, from 8pm.

This week Pop Filter HQ is now Pop FILTHER as our heroes look at the erotic tennis world of mixed thruples with new sports drama, Challengers. Love-All? It's more like Lust-All!

After that it's the latest in a relatively short string of documentaries on the hacking of marriage stress-test site, Ashley Madison, where it seems like 35 million men were telling 4 women that their wives didn't understand them.

There they are now just chilling out in their place of work, thinking about content for the next ep of the show. Ideas from our lovely listeners are always welcome!

This week, Lorraine Harton manages to convince Will McDermott to watch the new Jennifer Lopez documentary "The Greatest Love Story Never Told" (yep, that's the actual name), and they discuss that, and the "musical film😏" it's based on with wild abandon. They then switch gears completely and review Irish artist Oisin Leech's new solo debut album "October Sun".

Here's a pic of exactly what they look like whilst recording...
