Sevetri Wilson launched Resilia in 2016 to give nonprofit organizations the tools to grow. The company raised over $40 million in total funding from investors, including SoftBank, Goldman Sachs, and Fearless Fund.

Funding to Black founders is notoriously low, and the process of raising funding is historically fraught. The average Black founder starts a company with around $35,000 compared to the $107,000 the average white founder starts with. Within that, Black women are the fastest-growing group of entrepreneurs in the country and are more likely than even white men to start a company. Still, 80% of Black businesses fail within 18 months.

These stats make Wilson’s raise even more impressive.
