Guidance Sound System Recordings is born out of melting pot of different genres of music I was exposed to during my teenage years living in Manchester, UK, none more so than the days of the reggae sound systems. All had a major influence on my musical journey. From the setting up, to the sound-check (the testing the bass….wow), to the clash itself. Who had the bigger bass lines coupled with the Du
bplates and the artistes, the building would shake, when they drop the bass…..Always wanted my own sound system! Moving through the years another area of influence was that of the soul and rare grooves sound systems, they played soul with that raw bass and power, the likes of Soul Control, Broadway, Profile, Touch of Class, and the hybrid sound Funky Jamaican Express. Other influential genres came in the form of Latin Jazz, hip hop, bossanova, women, definitely a form of music….ha, and them hazy summer days, another form of music in itself. Then came jungle, drum and bass in the nineties, all that had influenced me during my younger days was here in a new form. In the mid nineties Guidance the clubnight was unearthed at Sankeys, by the dawn of the 21st century it was recognized, when it was given clubnight of the year by the Manchester Evening News magazine City Life
