Hi all,

Due to a stupidly overloaded lead up to Christmas, the Rock n Roll Hit Parade Christmas show won't be going to air tonight.

Sorry, but we just got too busy.

Thanks for your wonderful support through 2023, and don't forget to join Alan Colllier for the Hit Parade in '24.

Merry Christmas to all of you and all the best for next year!

Good grief......!

New photo of Connie Francis (Franconero). She's the queen of Italian American pop music. It takes a strong person to overcome the hardships that she faced in her life. She is a strong and beautiful soul. Her voice remains a favorite amongst our Italian American brothers and sisters. She is a shining example of how one can be a celebrity and remain a class act. Her hit songs "Where the Boys Are," "Don’t Break the Heart That Loves You," "Lipstick On Your Collar," "My Happiness, "Stupid Cupid," "Who's Sorry Now" and "Mama" are still being played today. ♥

It's a little bit scratched, but who could resist this little piece of rock n roll history?

Buddy Holly's second major hit, released late '57, with the sublime 'Everyday' on the flip.

Not bad for $4!

Test spinning one of tonight's Lost 45rpms......both of which are shockers from the late 60s!

Very sad news :(

'The end of an era' has never been more appropriate. He really was the last giant of the rock n roll era.

Vale, Jerry Lee.

American rock pioneer Jerry Lee Lewis, who was torn between his Bible-thumping upbringing and his desire to make hell-raising rock 'n' roll with hits such as Great Balls of Fire and Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On, has died at the age of 87.

Apologies to the people who tuned in last Sunday night at 6.00 pm for the Rock & Roll show....due to the hailstorm and heavy rain we had water leak into the studio and Phil our tech worked tirelessly till nearly 7.00pm to get the show on air.

Huge thanks to Phil and we will have the 2 hours next week.

Cheers,

Alan Collier
Host.

It's on, baby!See y'all on 4 June. We can't wait.

How good is this?

Our special thanks to our listener Eric from Forest Hill, for a very, very warm email saying how much he loves tuning into the Hit Parade each Sunday evening.

He also shared the following: 'The very first live show I ever saw was Bill Haley, The Platters, Big Joe Turner, Freddie Bell & the Bell Boys and La Verne Baker at the old West Melbourne Stadium.

I attach scans the program (which strangely doesn’t show The Platters on the front cover) & my entry ticket to the show on 14th January 1957. You will note it cost me the massive amount of 7/6 (75 cents) to get in. (I think I’ve paid over $300 to see Bruce Springsteen a few years ago). I enjoyed the show so much I went again the next night'.

What a blast! Thanks Eric!
